A friend of mine had a long haired white cat that was called Princess Tinkerbell by their daughter. On the first visit to the vets, they discovered that Princess Tinkerbell had balls, and they needed a new name for the vets records. The cat was henceforth Dave.

A fun night in stall for me. The errant cat that I have been feeding and treating with Frontline for a year has an injured rear leg. I have never locked him in before as he is truly an outdoor cat and not so familiar with humans but tonight he can be distressed all he wants because he should not be outside. I put his food bowls, a litter tray and the bedding he sometimes sleeps on when he stays for an hour or so in the unused top bedroom. He has chosen to stay in the past but usually for no longer than two hours before he loudly wants out.
If I were to let him out he would have to jump over a stream to get to the open barn he mostly uses next door or hike for nearly 500 metres to make it to my other neighbours house (unlocked cat flap and she is away, my partner is looking after her 4 cats), both options aren't good, its also minus 4 outside. So I am expecting much meowing and god knows what else.

Well it was a quiet night for me that was spent in not the greatest comfort on my sofa. My visitor, now patient, spent the night in the old incumbents bed next to my open bedroom door. I would have liked to be in my bed but I did not want to disturb him any more than necessary, I think he managed some sleep but it was probably less comforatble than my own.
He came downstairs at 7:15 and tried to hop onto to his usual means of exit and entry, a window, the cill is only 30cm off the floor but he could not do it. The stair risers are 18cm and he just managed those. After his panic at not being able to choose out he has gone back upstairs, this time to my partners room and is currently camped under her bed on top of a vacuum bag of bedding. I have filled two litter trays and food and water bowls, there are three floors so I will have to watch to see if he decides to move again.
I picked up some Metacam from a neighbour to ease his pain until I can get him to the vet on Monday morning, took food bowls away so that he can get hungry then eat some Metacam laced wet food, they cannot taste it. I think he may have a dislocated hip/leg joint looking at his shape when he is standing, must hurt like billy'o.
430 metres is the journey he made from the neighbours place to ours with a painful injury if he took the route I think he normally does, my partner saw him on Saturday morning when she was feeding the absent neighbours cats he was there, as he sometimes is. so my Monday morning plans are trashed and the vet will be my first and only priority. Its going to be fun incarcerating an almost feral cat in an open plan house for as long as it takes.

The urge to tickle the furry belly overtakes my respect for a cats bounderies, it has cost me blood in the past.

He is gradually coming round, and is now eating indoors, although he like the door to remain open. He doesn't seem to panic though if it is closed. He just sits by the door protesting loudly. He has learnt that being fussed is the price that must be paid to be fed, and has made no attempt to swipe, or bite. We leave the door open so he can explore at his own pace, although he does disappear for most of the day.

Our two know the crinkle frequency of cold meat and Dreamies packets from 200yds. Trying to sneak a snack out of the fridge is a stealth mission. I can hand feed one ham and have blood drawn from the other who is happily sat on my lap/pinning me down at the moment.
