Good news is the cat had been Microchipped so hopeful the owners can be found and will want to be reunited

Thats excellent news...I wonder if the poor thing was out on new years eve and got spooked by the fireworks, did a runner and got lost maybe.

My current fella is very strange...wants to be outside to watch the fireworks...I've never had a cat before that likes fireworks.

If he/she is lost from home then the stress can't be helping the skin condition I'm guessing....did the vet check for creepy crawlies?

Its a 2 person job...one handling the cat and one handling the carrier. Our carrier is a top opener so I can drop him in from above.

Whatever you do don't show them the carrier....we keep ours in the loft and we carefully get it out and set up. Also walk backwards so he can't see what's about to happen

I swear our one senses when he's going to the V E T! you have to block all escape routes first but don't try to sneak up on him as he'll bolt!

We don't even say the word as I think he recognises it....as someone once explained to me...cats do recognise their names but unlike dogs they generally just choose to ignore you!

They are excellent at spotting any change of routine....ours is on a thyroid medication that goes in his ear. He can hear the cardboard box being opened from across the room.... now I run the tap when I'm opening the box.

We wait till he's out before opening the loft hatch...if he hears the hatch he's on guard as thats where the carrier lives!

Kids playing lets bury the cats under pillows and stuff, cats seem to be mostly OK with it.

Really it was all my fault. Cat sat in the box fine, got bored so paws up to reach her cushion. Whilst I had one hand still near her; I'm now reaching for her fallen cushion - cross-handed the cushion falls again, claws start scrabbling, hand becomes way out...

He's so happy...I got up for all of 2 minutes to make a cuppa and he pinched my seat!

I just can't help tickling his toes...makes him so angry

3 of ours had chips owners had moved or abandoned them, vet wanted confirmation & would not release them till they had done some checks with Cat's Protection who were the registers holder
We then had chips transferred to us
One of those over groomed it was a long job to stop it there is some horse gunge a friend used that helped cant remember what it was, used to be advertised in NFU mag it was for other animals as well

One of our neighbour's cats (with a ridiculous name - either "Hercules Mulligan" or "John Laurens" - I'm not sure which is which - their daughter is a big fan of the Hamilton musical apparently) is quite the climber - this photo was taken from quite a low angle so makes it look less high (closer to the shed roof) than it is. I reckon that's about 6 metres up.

Looks quite relaxed!

Mine jumps from shed to garage to lowest part of next doors extension roof, from there onto the main house roof, and all I see if a tail just disappearing over the apex of a two storey house . .

Another used to sit right on the edge of the apex of my roof . . .

And both complain the height when sat on my shoulder . . .

Mine decided to run out of an open upstairs window....luckily there was a window opener on the other end of the window and I was quick enough to provide a route back in!

Cats in trees with collars on worry me...the can easily get caught on a branch and stuck.

When the Lodger first appeared, he had one of those so called snap apart collars, with the biggest bell I’ve ever seen dangling off it.

I shall never forget the image of him, having jumped into a box beside Toby (who hated him), who then took a swipe at the Lodger, caught a claw in his collar, and tried to shake the Lodger off his claw. The image of his little head being swung from side to side, although cartoonishly funny, did make me decide to remove the collar. But not before the next day saw the Lodger run in the back door, one front leg through the excess loop of collar that had managed to come loose.

On neither occasions did the snap apart collar, snap apart.
