I've been toying with the idea of getting a rescue Cat in the new year....we lost Gingie this time last year and the house hasn't really been the same since.

Main thing stopping me is the cost - vets in London are crazy expensive...they're a lot like cars...great until something goes wrong!

Don't know whats worse, Vets or Dentists. Both always seem to have you over a barrel.

Talking to someone last night (in the pub) and they reckon the longer you leave a tom cat before having them done, the more they retain their I guess pre op feistiness etc. Any truth in that?

Not in my experience, have a big tabby that was done quite late and he's a lazy soppy old git and always has been
In fact our black one was done at well over a year too and he's no savage tiger either, so I reckon it's an old wives tale.

I've had cats all my life...I think some of them just have a feisty unpredictable nature. I quite like when they have a strong character and don't take any nonsense .

We had leg of lamb for our Xmas meal today, and within a few minutes of the joint going in the oven Wilko was sniffing around the kitchen looking expectant. When some finally hit his food bowl he wolfed it down in no time. He's also a big fan of kippers, pilchards and mackerel, but lamb is his undisputed favourite. What do your cats prefer?

We had a cat many years ago that spent a lot of time snoozing on top of the VHS video machine, it was always plugged in and nicely warm, a perfect cat radiator.
When the video machine finally died I noticed the top of the metal casing was significantly stoved in, from years of supporting a fairly lardy luxuriating moggy
