Celly on the top of water based ?

base coat comes ready mixed with the metalic in it, however you can also buy metalflake which you add, which you wont use on a standard car but may use on a custom paint job

and no you cant just add metalic flakes to the celly paint to get metalic celly, straight metalic celly used to be sold but i havnt seen it about for years, it wasnt that good the metalflake seemed to build up in certain places and just wasnt even.

I just ring another paint supplier and apparently they can not get cellulose paint neither.
Can I get basecoat in solid color ? Just in case cellulose paint appear to be impossible to find for some reason....

yes most colours will be available in basecoat

What they say. The only spring you should encounter is going to be at least 40mm long x maybe as much as 10mm and obviously located. At the back of the gun is a gnurled nut. Unscrew it and take the spring out then put it back. That's as technical as it gets. Then with your new found confidence strip it to clean as instructions.

Another morning question then, would it be as easy and forgiveable to use some basecoat instead of cellulose.
I can see the need of clear which obviously make the process longer, but would the polyshing and fixing of beginner problem will be as easy to fix than with cellulose?

I think Cellulose metallics used to be available in the 70s, Silver Fox and Blue Mink come to mind. Also for the way the paint came off the cars in sheets!

If you're asking can you polish up the basecoat, no. Its a satin finish that provides the colour and metalic particles.

So what I understood so far is the cellulose paint (based on nitocellulose) is very forgiveable and very good for beginner (safety and easy to use).

So I am wondering if a basecoat (based on polyester) will be as easy and forgiveable product in term of easy to use.

I read that cellulose is good for beginner as if there is mistake made in at spraying time, it can most of the time fix it by polishing. So I wonder if basecoat (based on polyester is the same) is the same?

Think I follow. Yes solvent based, polyester and nitrocell are easier for beginners mostly due to the fact you need less safety hear to get in your way. Any auto paint can be corrected once dry by sanding. If using your poly bascoat however, you can only clearcoat on top of a semi dried gun finish so you need good technique to get the base right. Time for my question. Are any of the projects solid colour? (non metallic)

Brilliant.

Yeah the van is a solid color non metallic, but big.

The wing is metallic.

I am not quiet sure for the bike, at the moment it is solid but I am guessing the color is not original.

But I was thinking by doing something very simple to get some pratice.

Get a wing or bonnet, and sand, paint with a solid color, make mistake and get some practice.

For the wing I think base on the size of the problem. I am going to do something simple, use some rattle can the color won't match but it will prevent rust and when I have a bit more practice and get the hang of my tool and technic I will spray it again.

Does it sounds like a good approach ?

Superfly.Most paint suppliers have a bargain department of paints that were wrongly matched, not collected or mixed in error and sell them off quite cheaply. It is so much easier to show someone how to than to explain but we can try so get the required and let us know. Skype (mobile) is a very useful tool for this sort of thing but im sure there are people on this forum cleverer than me who could advise how i can make a how to video and post it.
I, in the mean time will have a scroll through a few "how to squirt paint about" vids and see if any are of use.
