That's when the Chav stuff started to become a nuisance. They all fancied their chances, they had none and I never rose to the bait, nothing to prove.
I still think all the "slammed" innit bro stuff is ***** driven by people with no vision. Sorry if this offends some.

Never got the poorly modified scene. Had bikes and a defender 90 instead. The bikes would wipe the floor with anything and the Landy made sure that when all the lads and their mrs were getting moved on from car parks and gateways, I was left in peace down the beach.....

Local chavs organised a “cruise” (I thought that’s what George Michael got in trouble for?) years ago and the usual array of tatty Saxos and 106s were in attendance. An older bloke pulled in with a mk3 cortina loping it’s brains out on tickover. Cue the local know it all’s telling him all about how he needed to tune it innit. When he left the police were marshalling the exit and making sure no one did owt daft. Copper must have been a petrol head because he had a quiet word through the window of the cortina and then stood back grinning as it went sideways out of the gate with the dirty great v8 under the bonnet on full song. Lot of red faces left in the car park

I went to a car meet somewhere in Wolverhampton years ago, in my Morris and when I left on the A5 I came to a junction, 2 lanes, straight on, and turn right. A 'hot hatch' Clio thing pulled up in the right lane, and I knew he was going to blow me off and shoot ahead into my lane.

But it didn't happen.

I had a 3.5 Rover motor, headers, intake, but weighed just 800kg

Evoque, yes in some respects a style conscious purchase, but look under the bling styling and you'll find the same mechanicals as the Freelander 2, it's still a proper 4x4 with the abilities that Landrover are famous for. There are however purely 2 wheel drive versions which provide the looks without the abilities and which do fall into the Hairdresser/ Chelsea school tractor camp.

That's it really isn't it - old age and forgetfulness causing grumpy OAP-itus.

Stupid speeding, noise, traffic cutting up, deafening the neighbourhood etc always been stupid, but other than that . . . enjoy life.

Sure there's more one then one neighbour of people on here that can't understand the preoccupation to spend time in shut up garages, sheds, workshops, grinding, hammering, milling and machining, never mind welding, when all they want to do is enjoy their peaceful back garden in the sun.

I'm as big a petrol (or diesel) head as most but some things I don't understand.
My total pet hate, its normally but not limited to mk4 Vw Golf's and Boras, Seat Leon's etc, expertly piloted by local bell ends with their seats so reclined they are almost horizontal, but they have to be to see out below the 2 foot deep sticker at the top of their windscreens. Bouncing along the road in their 'slammed innit' scuzmobile, bodywork being ripped to shreds by their 20" rims everytime they drive over anything bigger than a piece of gravel or a speed ramp, or have to go round one of those 'corners'. With their whistling dump valves announcing another deluge of unburnt diesel smoke obscuring their car and about 2 lanes of traffic behind them, adding to the carefully unwashed back end covered in soot. (The rest of the car probably gleaming) Naturally for a hatchback, the thoughtfully designed and provided useful rear wiper will have been removed preventing the much admired sheet of coal dust being inadvertently removed.
WTF is this about?

It's a hobby? Remember them?

They aren't beating up grannies for kicks and it's something they have some pride in.

The fact that old farts don't get it is surely a bonus.
