citric acid is convenient, where are you planning on doing your blasting as that is very messy and the grit will get everywhere.

Can the proper metering valve be obtained, rather than home made? I've a good bit to blast, and would like to do this without fighting the pot all the time.

Yes all the same - buy the cheapest one you can - then do the mods suggested.As the title states, been looking at a few now, Clarke, Sealey, Switzer and Venor.

To me they all look like they all look like they came off the same production line, aside from the paint job but the price differs dramatically between Venor and the likes of Clarke and the Sealey item.
Is there a difference in quality and reliability? The Switzer got a couple of negative reviews and makes me a little dubious about purchasing.

buy the flat sand valve junior. will run supafine grit and sand. heres the inside of them

That would be 2 x the manufacturers' inlet figures which are pure jiggery-pokery.
You'll actually have 2 x 8 or 2 x 9 CFM outlet figure.

they will still run the 3.0mm jet no problems at 90 psi constant

hi all,
ive just got a chinesium blast pot over the christmas and intend to do the suggested mods straight away - ive already ordered the century wise mixing unit as i just dont have the time to be faffing about making one.
my question is, how are you guys best setting up the ace engineering nozzles in place of the deadman gun? is it with a ballvalve? hard to see how the ACE nozzle mounts - cheers!

just cut the gun of the end and push the blast jet in to the hose using a jubily clip and operate the pot from the ball valve supply

i plan on using crushed glass mostly i think, for removing light to medium corrosion and paint from components on rally cars like arms and stuff, and also engine components like pulleys, sumps, rocker covers, that type of thing. should i be going for 3mm?

yes if u can run 2 no 3hp comps or get one that runs 26cfm it will run real nice ' 90 PSI
a 14cfm is workable but a bit low on pressure

hi guys,
just a but of feedback here - i got this set up while back with the centurywise flat grit valve, and the 3mm tungsten nozzle and its working fantastic after a bit of messing about!
I do have one annoying feature though perhaps some have come accross it - with both the inlet air ball valve CLOSED and the ball valve to the nozzle CLOSED, im still getting a low pressure stream of glass/air through the tip? Im presuming after a bit of head scratching and changing the valves, that its the pressure in the pot, sending glass/air through the mixing valve down the blast hose.
Only solution i see to this is ANOTHER ball valve between the pot and the mixing flat valve, or one at the end of the blast hose.
