Aye, I am 99.99% sure it is, the only other thing I was thinking it may be was the canbus adapter but I think that unlikely.
I think I will just have to hope the Chinese decide that they will become Santa and give me another update that will work this time. Not holding out much hope though as the last email has been unanswered.

i have a peugeot partner and it went funny to kph. must have pressed something accidental a bit of fiddling around and i got it back cant remember what i presses

Aye true enough but at least it works.@Hood If you think the aftermarket one is expensive, I would dread to think how much the genuine one is!
Well actually that is not true either because that was one of the reasons I got the Android as the mirror link would not see my phone and it turned out it wouldn't see many phones, so not even just because of the phone I had was a Blackview.

With the standard head unit I can easily change back and forth.
On the base models they have a small LCD display instead of the touch screen unit. I bought one of these and it arrived yesterday but sadly the plug is slightly different so it doesn't fit. I was in hopes that the menu page in the Android would allow me to change via the LCD. as I had seen it done on Youtube.

@Hood I'm not clear on what you tried and what did or didn't work.

- Get the APK file from the video (download it). https://www.mediafire.com/file/jx9ezrei8pggcfo/Launcher.apk/file (the two different videos have different links to mediafire but I downloaded both and they have the same checksum so they are the same).
- Copy it on to a USB pen drive.
- Plug the USB into the device.
- Using the android file explorer navigate/browse to the USB drive; copy the APK file; navigate to device's internal storage folder; paste the file.
- Open the file and when prompted choose to install it.
- Return to the home screen and checked it now shows miles.

BTW: Watch this the video below to understand launchers (not exactly sure why launchers are being discussed as the KPH to MPH process involves an APK (Android package application) to alter the programming).

Aye, did all that but when I clicked home it just went to a blank page.
I have downloaded the Car Launcher trial onto my old phone and I am messing with it. I will try it on the android radio tomorrow and see as it has options for units in the settings.

I tried the Car Launcher app and when I set to miles it changes the app itself to read miles but doesn't alter the car dashboard. It was kind of what I thought would happen but it was worth a go.
What I really need is an update of the actual operating system or whatever you would call it in Android and looks like the Chinese are my only hope unless maybe the Russian site I linked to earlier have something that would help although I am a bit wary of updating to an unknown.

Does the unit itself (the Android base software) have a settings menu or configuration wizard? There could be something if you hunt around.
Try and look for units, settings, region, language, etc. Maybe there is something you can alter in there? For example finding a setup wizard and selecting English (US), mile/yards for units etc. Rough example:
