Current one is an F2, just over 2000 miles from new!My Original one was the first, a CB400F.

I've been having a nose at classic cars, vans and bikes on eBay recently. No serious plans, just browsing like Dad's used to through the Exchange & Mart. 
Things seem to have slowed to a stop with sales, loads of stuff hanging about and not selling. Leaving aside the over priced rough stuff which rarely sells, prices don't seem to have dropped (yet?) but no one seems to be buying. I've also noticed a lot of "bought it as a project during lock down but haven't done anything with it" stuff on there.
I imagine if you were after something specific next year would be a good time to buy. Not just classic stuff, but things like campers will start to drop a bit as people go back to foreign holidays and/or don't want to pay for tax, MOT and storage on something they don't use much as they've become expensive to run.

Air cooled, belt driven cams. If you can find one a Superlight would be the one to buy as an investment and good bike to ride but single seat only. Any Supersport needs regular belt changes, good oil, valve clearance checks and never revved from cold , preferably spun over without the plugs in if it has not been run for some time. Good service history helps or budget for a proper service not just an oil change and it’ll be fine type mechanic. Rewarding bike to ride , would embarrass many newer bikes with a good rider on board.

If anyone has an almost perfect 350LC he (or she) will get their arm bitten off if they offer it for £7k. Prices for really good LC350s are north of £10k now.

There seemed to be a lot of CX500s at the Bike Shed show earlier this year, some of them quite tasty, some of them not so.
Workmate had a Jota, servicing costs were a bit much apparently, rear tyres and chains regularly apparently. Sold it the other week. Think he'd lost the need.

They are desirable bikes (I'd love one). A classic you could ride/tour on reliably every day - robust and pleasant to ride.
Beware the trend for Hipsters buying old 2-valve Beemers though to "Bob" or "Steampunk" them, to sell on to other London Hipsters for ridiculous money - some bearded Herbert in Tweed with his Tache waxed to look like Terry Thomas might end up riding your bike after it's been butchered.
(I've seen some very tasty "Bobbed" Beemers BTW - but a decent original GS should be kept that way IMO).
For the OP - the trick is if you have the eye to spot and buy the next "Classic" and buy before. Ironically, I've guessed right on maybe half-a-dozen or more bikes over the years.... but never really had the spare cash to buy any of them.
