Oil will never run out.
People keep saying this and yet the World's oil reserves have grown due to new technologies such as shale extraction.
Eventually it may become uneconomic to extract but World oil consumption is falling.

Greed, capitalism and consumerism are the most damaging things to the planet by far, last time I had a topic relating to that though i was branded a "yoghurt knitter".
Oh and Facebook....that's devastating the planet too.

That sounds like perfect sense however It does matter because of the cost.
People get paid money to build windfarms. They even get paid when there is no wind.
Battery storage is cheaper than Hydrogen conversion. And yet battery storage is far too expensive itself.

I've been saying this for decades, what we need is a conventional World War III. Nothing quite boosts manufacturing and reconstruction and creates international debt [which has to be repaid] like a good 'fecht'. Not a popular viewpoint, though.........

The old Tesco supermarket in my home town, huge place boarded up for several years when it was replaced. After a year or more the sheets of chipboard got rotted, ripped up a bit, you could see every light in the place was on, hundreds of flouro tubes.
Why? Why on earth would they do that? To keep thieves out? There was nothing to steal, it was awaiting demolition.

I'd use the tram in Sheffield but the only place it goes I've ever wanted to go (well, my ex wanted to go, I didn't have a lot of choice) is Medowhall and the train is cheaper and faster.

I am always telling my staff off. Our offices tend to be quite chilly sometimes even when the weather has warmed up. There are windows overlooking the warehouse. All they have to do is open the windows when the warehouse is warmer than the office - not rocket science but seems beyond the average person
You get shops with all the fridges pumping in heat but instead of extracting the heat they put aircon in the shop.
New buildings never have opening windows - so gyms and cinemas get too warm so have to run aircon.
The horrid new dome over the British Museum is a classic example. Gets like a sauna in there. Designed by Norman Foster. No opening at the top to let the heat out. Heat rises. The Romans knew that when they built the Pantheon 1900 years ago

If you are a serious follower of the green agenda you need to look at where you use energy and what YOU do that uses energy that is not essential.
Wasting energy on social media, tv, smart phones, do you really need a personal transport mechanism? (Need, not be inconvenienced by its lack)... using the Internet for entertainment?
Holidays away from home? maybe overseas once in 10 years, not 3 times in 10 months,.
Where does your food come from? If its imported its a luxury and has a huge carbon footprint.. forget out of season fruit & veg, exotic fruits etc. Your avocado salad is killing the planet, so is your tofu and grapes.
Once I see the advocates of AGW dropping all the above from their lives I might think they are actually on to something , as opposed to on something (that's probably imported and has a carbon footprint for recreational purposes)
If you believe it do all you can.. regardless of the cost... because otherwise I cal, it all hypocrisy

That's just a talk about immigration and poverty. Not seeing any correlation with climate change or energy use. In fact, I suggest these vast numbers of poor people have little to no effect other than being "sold into" by developed countries. The Earth can easily support the current level of population, even double the current level.
The problem arises only if or when this gigantic number of those who live in poverty would like to enjoy the riches we have gathered for ourselves in the developed world. It is OUR western lifestyle that is unsustainable because on average we are far too wasteful of resources with energy consumption, food and infrastructure. This planet can easily support 10 or 20 billion humans but not if they all want three hot meals a day, eat meat, own a car and have a TV. Incredibly, we don't even see those things as luxuries. Go visit a "developing" nation and you soon realise the extreme level of luxury we have made for ourselves, at the expense of all those others...

At some point the population becomes unsustainable if it continues to grow indefinitely...maybe that limit is 20Bn, maybe 40Bn....maybe 100Bn....but there will be a limit because the earth is a finite resource.
Plenty of theories suggest the population will peak and stabilise....let's hope for that to be true I guess.

Where was all that CO2 before it got turned into fossil fuel?A long post but spot on.
Sadly climate deniers don't like proper science!
There is a current solution that would work and has been around since the 1950s but sadly isn't acceptable to many.
Hopefully fusion will finally take off. If it does CO2 scrubbers could be the answer. And no I don't mean for cleaning up power stations but to remove CO2 from the air. A reverse carbon cycle if you will. They could stick all the raw carbon back down the mines then
I turn mine off at 10pm usually, and back on when I need it next day, set at 18°c. If I’m going out, or in the workshop, I leave it off.
Even in the coldest mornings of winter the place never got below 13.5°, even after the CH had been off for 10 hours. I think my dog acts like a mobile heater.
Being a bungalow there’s no dramas with heat disappearing off upstairs, which is good, I simply leave all the inside doors open and TRVs are set to full.

A third of the population are obese, a third are starving, the others are actually doing it right.
If greed, gluttony and stupidity could be regulated the planet would be a great place to live for all.
I find it incredibly hard to believe our ‘leaders’ started WW2 just 20 years after ‘The wars to end all wars’ had finished. The planet had barely finished grieving the Great War, before the clowns were at it all over again.
The sheer destruction and wastage of resources that stupidity involved is staggering.

I spent 25 years working in seismic survey, finding oil hidden underground, and our ‘company experts’ minimum estimate, based on what we already know exists, is 200 years supply at current consumption. And they are finding more all the time. Venezuela has the most oil, yet is a basket case of a country and doesn’t export more than a fraction of the world consumption.
What the 78% of it in our air? Horrid stuff....
