The thing is that with new concrete you have varying degrees of laitance. Basically a loose "coat" on top of the proper concrete.

When I did my garage floor I wire brushed the hoovered the whole double garage. Only then did I paint with floor paint. Still good.

Dunno, never noticed but I think it helps in making things a bit non slip which is a plus in my book.

1st coat well watered down will soak in and seal .second coat try a test bit at 50- 50 and see how it goes

Ok this dust proofing, what is your meaning of the dust. My floor is to me bad. It was laid about 10 years ago and once i have vacuumed up all the dust in no time it is loose again and dusty after an half hour walking around..

Will this stuff do the job before i paint it with Poly paint.

yep its a waterproof bonding agent as well as a sealer 1st watered down coat will soak in and solidify it second will put a good skin on it

UPDATE: A couple of months ago bought this product for dustproofing my new garage floor. I put three coats on, with drying time in between as per instructions.
All I have to say is that in my opinion, " It is worthless. "

well in that case ill give a try.hope to get it dome in a few weeks.

Ill use a SBR though. if thats what is found from non SBR types.

Another question on this SBR

How soon can it be applied after the concrete has set, so new floor being put down. I have been looking at paints to go over the SBR but the ones i see need minimum 12 weeks before applying the paint.

it can be applied over damp concrete but i wouldnt do it .let the concrete dry out for the full period then apply it otherwise you will seal the damp in

Well its not going to get done then , cant be waiting for 3 months to set. mite see about HD rubber mats. All my gear is in the garden covered up and cant bet to anything.

3 months was what i read on the instructions kida, still 30 days is enough. need it sorting though as the pad thats down now is just dusting up alll the time so need a covering.

saying that its only going to be 50-75mm thick. its to level the two floors up, would that matter to drying time ?

If your floor is constantly raising dust then it was finished too fatty probably by being over-floated. Best thing to do is grind it down a few mm.

the plan was as told it would work was to use SBR thinned down a few coats then thicker few coats to seal it all together then paint it.

How would i grind it, never heard of that ?

I did 20 square meters in a couple of hours using a 9" grinder and diamond cup wheel. I had a proper shroud fitment for the grinder so the dust vac could collect the dust but you could cobble up something temporary and tape a hoover pipe to it. Be aware it'll make a lot of dust very quick;y easily enough to fill a wheelbarrow in a few hrs.

Search 9"/180mm diamond cup wheel and you'll get loads of results.

Did 36m2 with a cup brush in a grinder when I cleaned the concrete garage floor before I painted it. Hoovered all the dust and the single pack paint stuck like **** to a blanket.

It had mind never been a working garage, so no oil stains etc on the concrete.
