I'm surprised nobody has picked up on this yet but you always fit the female part of the qrc to the pressurised side of air pipework. They have a non return valve to stop the air coming out when you disconnect your tools. That fitting you removed from the compressor is a female coupling, so replace it with a similar fitting.
Any extension hoses should have a male & a fem on each end.
It works out cheaper too, you only need 1 expensive fem on your hose & the cheaper male fittings on all your tools.
You can get the pcl XF type fittings in Lidl, they call them Euro fittings but I would avoid them. The couplings are made from cheese & the females fail after a short time.
