Don’t remember (a long time since my server days) but it will be some kind of springy clamp like @PhillipM said.

It is quite a heavy lump, I have one similar where I just used thermal glue but that is horizontal and static so no risk of falling off.

Iv got the ability to mount it via the fixing points on the camera

That will shift some heat. Drill it to fit the camera and mount direct with a good thermal paste.

Add a fan and you should be good. I would be reluctant to rely on passive cooling alone

I don’t think you could drill the fins even from the base as they are really flimsy and have a bit of movement

You don’t need to, hole through base and push the fin aside to get screws in. A little fin damage will make no real difference, a solid interface will

Will take a further picture tomorrow but I don’t think it’s possible due to its construction

Would I love that much using aluminium to make a mount for it?

Found some of my old water blocks. The two copper channeled blocks were cnc milled but I made the brass tops. I did not have many tools back then. They were all well used. The smallest one was epoxied onto a motherboard chip. The middle left one was for a graphics card.
The silver has badly dremmeled channels in the other side and it had a copper pipe fitting soldered as the lid - it was the first I made. It started off as a round sintered button and was pressed out to that shape. I will melt it down sometime and make something better with it.

Yes very simple, most are just channels, smaller the better, but harder to cut. Bottom left was hacksawn and then filled in with CuP rod.
There are more advanced designs that have a restriction plate of about 30 tiny holes, creating a jet impingment effect to minimise the boundry layer - not suited to multiple high power devices in series but does perform better.

Deionised water, and common to use a surficant product, cant remember the name. A biocide is not a bad idea as algy/legionnaires can grow.
