Sectioning the cylinder is easy, but when you make the cut, the liner won't stay inside the cylinder half as its retained by a interference fit that will disappear once cut. But its easy to epoxy the half liner back into the cylinder casting half I guess.

True - but not many of us would seriously consider cutting an engine in half with a hack saw.....
