Cutting down and relocating my fab table

but a smaller 40/50l compressor tank is ample enough but id say the belt type was much better than direct drives

Looks like one up on there R-Tech website I was swooning over earlier. Need to sort out room for one first; but I think my friend can help set me up with a location for when it isn't in use.

you can run both on that supply ive already done it but only power i have is from a 35m 2.5 cable which supplies the shed

i run both the cut50 plasma cutter and a 40litre belt compressor on it

belt compresoor less noise than direct

a note i stop cutting when the compressor is building up air again but its never stopped me before i have done the cutting with both air and plasma cutting at same time its just not good practice but i am upgrading the wire anyway

Same section I will use when I will get the 9kW power generator , but I will need 12 meters only .
I have to figure out yet where to install the generator .
My house is pretty small (92 square metres) and my workshop is at first floor (to build yet)
If I put it ground floor I can move it easily if I need it for the jobsite but I cannot put it into a silencer box
If I put it upstairs I cannot move it as easy , but I can build a silencer box so I can run it without disturbing the neighborhood .

Yep there are lot of things I omitted to consider doing the calculations
I have considered 2.2+6.8=9kW considering 1kW to square mm section 10mm is barely minimum but enough for the use (he will never use 9kW continuously)

Got back to my little project today.

First thing I tackled was cutting off some of the remnants of the old frame that were left sticking out from last time. Cut these down with the big grinder/chop saw and couldn't really get any closer with that, so a new 5" grinder today made short work of getting rid of those pointy hazards.

Next up I cut up some little squares of 2mm sheet; which I was humbly given when I first started trying to learn, and I still have some left. Amazing how many uses I can find for little off cuts of it. My Dad and I lowered the table onto its legs, having earlier cut the remaining one down to size and with a bit of team work we got the little squares under each leg, welding one at a time. I grabbed this quick pic as I was setting up to test my settings before welding them in place.



Was a bit of a hassle getting down on the floor to do this, but after a quick brush the welds seem up to the task.



A portion of the angle frame left over from the previous work was left sticking out beyond that side of the table, my initial idea was to cut this off, flip it around and weld it back into the same place. Given this side of the table was where I expected to sit with my legs under the table at some point in the future I decided to just remove it for the time being, and if necessary I'll come up with something else to add more rigidity back into that side of the frame.

Next up I measured some lengths of decking boards from what I previously used under the table and cut them down to span this shorter table. Once I had four of them, I had them in place to give me a reference and clamped a piece of SHS to hold them tight against the frame. This was then welded in place, I had not intended to weld the side nearest the boards in case it got in the way of the boards fitting, but forgot and put a bead down there also, it seems to have helped secure a tight fit. Previously the shelf boards were loose and I much prefer them being held in place and this approach removes the need to bolt them to the frame. The SHS is also just the right size to protect the edge of the first board, so I'm hoping dragging a tool box or whatever I end up storing there wont' damage the wood too much.



Next chance I get I'll be wedging a piece of copper plate I've had for quite awhile under the table so I can weld in at least the biggest dents and through holes. Once that's done I'll give it a go over with a flap disc and make sure there are no sharp edges left. Touch up of paint where I cut and ground the frame and I think I'll call it done for the time being.

Looking forward to building a stool now, and after removing that front section of frame I may even add casters to the stool so it can be wheeled underneath when not in use.
