Well done! I assume the bloody thing won't come apart once it's all fixed in place if you haven't peened it over?
Probably done like that for ease of manufacture.

Haven't put the caliper back on yet ...getting too old for this.. should finish tomorrow then test drive time ... hopefully all will be well jf not ....
..wanna buy a low mileage mazda 2 auto

All back together ..got soaked but couldn't wait!! Took out for a test drive and all good ..no knocking or funny noises and drives nice ...swimbo is chuffed to have her car back ....... and I'm glad to see it go back!!!

Having added comment earlier that the puller tool easily popped outer joint off on the Astra so easy repair. I came unstuck on today's one.
Sons qashqai failed on outer boot so I said I'd sort to save his cash and my last success.
BU**ER me if it wouldn't come off with " reasonable " force ( not wanting to pop inner from gearbox).
One trip to factors, fitting cone bit of oil and a lot of the time pushing and I managed to get it fixed.
Cleaned grease from back of joint no sign of circlip so obviously pot luck@@

Changed an outer boot on my sister in law's Skoda Fabia on Saturday, joint came off OK with a puller but it was a hell of a job getting it back on over the circlip again. All done anyway.
