You say that, I’d have thought the hoover will just start filling up at that point anyway. The sound when it gets full is obvious and you notice the suction start to drop.

Sorry that pish. It's as good if not better than dewalts 18v routerits not for heavy duty use more of a diy use of a tool adequate to do many jobs though
Aye. 1/4" 7mm straight fluteis that a 1/4" cutter in your router? to be fair I woundn't put makita as DIY tools
Brilliant. As Dr.Al says the other bases are handy although I bought this as unit with just the base you see fitted, the plunge base was £40 extra so I bought that and I didn’t need the other two so that’s what I’ve done. I’d 100% not refer to it as DIY, it’s very well made and very capable. It has limitations because of the 1/4 bit size but that can be worked around. I bought it initially for fitting the doors in my house and I’ve used it for all sorts since.Hi Kim sorry to go a bit off topic but that cordless router are they any good? Your base is what I’m copying roughly actually. I am making it a bit different though.I've been using mine for three years. Works well but sawdust is about the limit for particle size. If you try and use it to collect finer dust the hoover filter still blocks.
I use it with a old Dyson and if you block the hose it's powerful enough to suck the sides of the container in.
A smooth bore collection hose would be better too, any swarf or bigger splinters jam and they're a pain to get out.

That’s precisely why it’s just a thought with that sight gauge thing and not a reality. On mine, the hose from the Henry plugs into the top port. No clips involved.
Periodically I might quicky unplug the hose and glance inside to check the level.
It isn't much bother at all.
I can't think an oil tank style tube will do anything other than block and give false readings.
Additionally most of these barrels are a little translucent. If you were really that fussed you would not need to rig up photosensors and the like - a bright light either inside or strapped to the outside would likley light up the whole job and allow you to see the level inside with your own two inbuilt photosensors.
To be fair I will always have it in different places like my hoover so I don’t mind it being on a cart.I can't remember where I got my hose from, only that it was expensive and that I should have got a smooth bore version!!
Also, if I could go back in time I'd find somewhere to mount the thing permanently under a bench or something. I've put it on wheels but it's always in the way.
Yes well that’s why I’m making the stand as I am. It’ll all become clear when I get back to it.can the containter bolt to the top of the hoover some how
