BTW...did you consider one of those ex-MOD cradle pumps with the coventry climax motor (hillman Imp)

yes l did consider one of them in fact l threw one in the scrap
l stripped an old fire engine to get the V8 perkins and auto box from for one of my other projects, in the side lockers was one of them imp powered pumps which we had a play with ok but petrol powered , we had to run it near flat out to get reasonable flow/pressure and the fuel consumption was horrific, clearly if your house is on fire then economics dont come into it just get the fire out at any cost, but l want to leave this pump running for a couple of days at a time which is why l chose a perkins over a transit engine, l thought rightly or wrongly it would be more economical ?
anyway if l used a proper pump l wouldent need to make one and wheres the fun in that
l still have the pump off the back of the fire engine so if this one fails to deliver we can go up a step by using that and a cummins engine
