these are all very simple problems oil pressure switches just earth themselves when there is no pressure. so use a relay if the oil pressure drops it will activate the relay and cut the engine as for an altenator light use a push to make switch so that you check it when ever you press the switch no need for it to be on anyway

If you leave it unattended for too long, will you drain the fish pond?
Is veg oil an option rather than diesel?
Looking forward to some action shots of this beastie in action.
did a bit more to day, thought l might get it running but not quite as l got distracted by a new toy
will be a bit of a a squeeze on the back of my SJ though, might need an extra leaf or 2 in the rear springs ?

You'll just have to knock up something to mount it on, probably 6-wheel drive with hydraulic motors on each wheel driven by a Rolls Royce Merlin engine?
You don't want to be running it dry.... need a flow switch or pump pressure switch.
We used to fit a flow switch right at the end of the inlet pipework. Basically a microswich with a big flap, just screws into a bsp socket. And a flow switch if my memory serves me correctly, drilled and tapped into the pump casing.
They were connected into a Murphy control panel. I imagine a flow switch could be added simply....to the fuel solenoid probably. Just need an over ride for getting it going.
hello excossack
did you used to have a lada niva by the way ?
and yes if l left it running to long it would drain the fish pond as its fed by a 2" pipe under little pressure and l with drawing out through a 90mm pipe under a lot more pressure, l do plan to dig a big sump on the end of the fish pond this spring to help matters though
red diesel will do for me, l shouldent be using it that often if l can find the leak in the duck pond

Yep I used to have a Lada Niva
I was going to suggest a ballcock to cut off the engine if the water got too low.
We used a paddle type flow switch in the spot welding coolant circuits - example
