Drilling a hole in mild steel - how hard should it be?

You should of bought 7 squids worth of apples and pears and put the money to good use..please take a pic of your face when you try that step drill on anything thicker and harder than a newspaper and post here

I'll give my step drills a go later, if they're crap they go back. Quite a simple equation.

very simple LOL...i wish they would stop painting these bits this gay titainium yellow colour to try give the perception there hard,and that goes for any one pulling the same stunt

Ive used the aldi step drills to drill about 50 10mm and 14mm holes in stainless steel rulers to make spring clips and they've done pretty well.

Well they seem to have improved quality from when i bought them or are they Aldi Stainless rules..LOL

no they're poundland stainless steel rules, £1 for a 1m long rule was a bargain back in the day......Aldi Rules (well part of a aldi tr-square get used by me to make petrol tank retaining straps for my car

TiN coating is about as good as wee. It wont last 10 seconds.. I just drilled four 8mm holes, 25mm deep in O1 tool steel and the carbide drill cut it like butter.
