Just a heads up for your mate with the MR2's. I recently sold a 2zzge motor which is going in a gilbern t11, the reason he is swapping engine is the 2zz is all aluminium and about 50k lighter than the 3s ge it is currently running. He is selling the 3s ge, its not done a lit of miles since it was built, head was re shimmed as well which is unusual. The motor runs hyabusa itbs with a custom intake manifold and megasquirt ecu. It's fully tuned and putting out 200 bhp which is good for a n/a 3s.

Nice looking build, seen a fully restored one a few months back and it looked very tidy. Tell yer mate to drop a 2zzge in the mr2, the engine the last model should have had not the piece of poo 1zz

Nope Its a (Yamaha designed) Zetec SE from a Fiesta, with an Eaton M45 Supercharger from a Mini Cooper S, and a new inlet manifold created from a Jaguar chargecooler manifold.
So the intercooler is built in to the inlet manifold.
It runs a twin rotor,scavenge only Dry sump system, with the internal engine oil pump providing the pressure stage.
It has a fully programmable ECU for fuelling, sparks and lots of other trick stuff like fully adjustable Launch control and Traction control etc.

Basically, I wanted all of the expensive bits to bolt on to an otherwise STD engine, that way if it goes pop, I just need to swap all the trick stuff on to another £200 base engine and adjust the calibration to get it right again ;o)

As for the MR2 chappie....... I`ve never even met him, but I suspect hes going to put a 2zz (Which he has got) in the Mk1 MR2 ;o)

Well the Shell has been built properly, full Multipoint cage, fully 4-linked axle location, big turrets, fully strengthened and seam welded, fully strengthened crossmember and wishbones, soon to be tubbed and arched, etc
Its got sill stand tubes fitted to the sills now, and I even have some air jacks for it !!
Effectively it is built like a Works Tarmac Car

The Engine puts it in Sports libre though !! so I`d be up against some serious bits of kit in that class

It was built as a nice fun car, to take some abuse, with loads of useable grunt, so it should make a great trackday toy and be super reliable.

Dosen't matter if it's sports Libre or not fun is the name of the game, just compete against yourself and try beating your own times. Was actually going to have a play with the Hills and sprints myself this year.

Well I got it out of the van on Saturday and finished putting it all together.

Its quite a big bit of Kit

The cyclone pulls a fair vacuum on the cabinet too but beyond that, I haven't got it blasting yet
It needs a longer grit delivery hose and it needs a water trap and some 3/8bsp fittings which I didn't have

It was also too cold in the Barn to get my Hydrovane fired up, as the Farmer has fitted a B-Type breaker to the 16A supply rather than a C-type.
I tried warming it (Compressor) with the propane torch but still couldn't get it to go.

Worst ways I`ll take my little portable one down there and see if I can get it to Blast, but first impressions are pretty positive

I know this is an old thread, I've recently got a wood chip extractor like those at the beginning of the thread. My question is should the fans push or pull? I thinking about rigging mi ne up with some spare extractor trunking so I can use it when I'm welding, sparking or grinding.....

I finally got it all working at the weekend, and I can safely say, with some quite fine garnet media, the extractor worked very well.
The Cabinet remained clear at all times

IIRC extractor fans work better at pulling than pushing

Finally got it running yesterday, it's pretty decent like sooks like a hooker on steroids, even when the nozzle is accidently pointed into the grit and the cabinet is full of the dust that has blown up it clears in no time.
