I want an EV when I can drive again. I looked at converting the 90 and at £22k actually sounds reasonable compared to a new one. I will start a new thread if the conversion actually happens

The place next to us has 4 directors each with an electric or plug in hybrid and they have x2 charging points for the 4 cars

They have a daily battle to charge them as three of them haven’t got the facility to charge at home

do you fill your petrol car every day? an electric car only needs topping up when empty or if going on a long run, the idea being that people charge at home overnight, using the surplus lekkie.

This sort of lunacy really is disturbing. The lunatics really are running the Asylum. There is a flat-out push by Govt and the Ignorant to get us all using more electricity - and our privatised network and dumb, uninformed person-on-the-street see to it that we will get screwed for what power there is, while the infrastructure ages and fails to cope with current demand, let alone future need.
I can't see any way that the galactic idiocy of our entire Govt & Administration, together with the utterly fantasy-island expectations of an unthinking and amazingly naive public (in general) - can ever slow and stop us careering into a very dark dystopian (near) future, let alone reverse it / prevent it.
We need a "Brewsters Millions" type of Election, where the Ballot has a "None of the above" option (as well as an Electorate with a sudden upturn in Nouse & Understanding) - our "Political Class" and the Civil Service (who really run everything) really badly needed total reform decades ago.

Quick read through that I didn't see any long term plans mentioned.

I did read a lot of window dressing though. Lots of flashy phrases.

Gotta give BP credit for coining the term Carbon footprint and trying to shift responsibility on to the little cogs while carrying on as normal.

Perhaps they could share it then. That article was a placebo.

And all I drew from the article posted afterwards from the same site was no. You can't all come home from work and charge your vehicle's carefully hidden behind the window dressing.

Different perspective.

Big engineering firm quotes and wins a huge contract. When asked if they have the necessary infrastructure in place to complete it do they

A) truthfully admit they don't and risk losing the contract

B) brazen it out and do there best to meet the requirements until the cash starts rolling in.

I had a read of those links from the experts. There's a lot of fluff there and hardly any figures. I don't have an axe to grind, an electric car would suit most journeys I make but there is very little substance in those links. There's a bit of a straw man in the myth busting list too. No-one thinks electric vehicles are slow outside of milk floats.
