No, of course it won't, in workshops time is money.
If the price of consumables goes up then customers are simply charged accordingly.

I had a thought to get a white meter and charge a bunch of car batteries overnight, then run the house off an inverter during the day as we only use about 4kwh a day. But with the cost of a big inverter needed for peak cooking loading it isn't yet worth it.

In the last 8 years we've rarely ever use the 3kw electric oven, it's been shoved to last resort as we have these :-
Which can easily run off my suitcase genny & off grid sockets inthe bungalow if needed. A 1000 watt Salter pro air fryer that fry's boils roasts and bakes , 800 watt microwave where we can vary the power use over 9 steps a 300watt 7 pint slow cooker that will also roast , a 300watt electric pressure cooker that cooks almost everything in half an hour or less, and a very versatile 300 wat bread maker that will bake make jams , stew or do a slow roast , The only heavy current device we have in regular use is the electric kettle at 2,000 watts and as it only ever gets fill just above what we need it's not so bad but when it dies we'll be using the microwave to boil water in Pyrex glass jugs in half the time .

They are handy for brazing , welding aluminium , doing small flame localised heating & panel beating / stretching or shrinking and welding corner joints in thin metal as well as being very portable & safer than electricity in wet conditions

In our locality there are chargers on some council carparks, you have to bring your own jumper cable to plug into the very simple pillar point socket, you also have to have the councils approved card to swipe and buy.
They seem pretty robust & vandal proof but the three-phase cable from the supply poles & transformer that is clipped to the stone wall looks very vulnerable / stealable for someone with the right insulated cropping gear, despite the site being on half a dozen monitored CCTV cameras in the area & on the access roads.
I guess they were put in on the cheap, when having the feeds underground in ducts would have made more sense .

I'm not saying they aren't, but a mig welder will always be the weapon of choice for vehicle welding unless something even easier to use comes along.

Gas kit is also good for plastic welding using a low voltage heater sleeve on the torch tube to heat the nitrogen that melts the plastic .

i use a mig on quarters, door skins and such like.
i don't find it ideal for inner sills or chassis legs and such where i would need to spend half a day grinding using a mig.
quick hammer and chisel and just slap a plate on with the gas.

If you need to spend half a day cleaning up mig welds then you're doing it wrong.

You not bought a Remoska oven yet - they are good and very low wattage.

I has welded the whole of the pick-up bed together on one of my hot rods, as my only alternative was a stick welder, on 16 gauge steel.

Maybe 5 or 6 yards of weld. It was time consuming, but interesting, and very relaxing. And the whole job didn't even move the needles on the big gas bottles I had at the time. The flame used is tiny really.

If your bottles were full it wouldn't of moved on 5-6 yards. They move faster the less you have in. It can be relaxing if you're comfortable. And not having your legs wrapped around the back axle to lift your upper body up like a permanent sit up (if you only got 2-3" in a direction you ain't going to get the sofa out, just pull yourself up). Half bar oxy quarter bar acy is the general setting I use. Gets a bit more speed up.

Our Salter Air Fryer Pro cost us £25 , 8 yrs ago from Focus Do It All about three weeks before the student autumn term started , it does everything the Ramoska does and more.

I'd had the bottles several years already when I built the truck bed. It was the second version too. First version looked crap. Too short, too shallow..... this was me measuring up head height ready to build the roof frame. You can see how awfully out of proportion the first bed was.

I am now at this stage, spending longer grinding my welds down than actually doing them in the first place. And sometimes I can get a lovely bead, but having to stop-start because of the thin metal doesn't help.
