A lot of companies have realized that having employees work from home makes a great deal of sense as they can offload very expensive office space in central London. The employees like it because they don't have to pay extortionate rail fares or similarly horrific rent. The only fly in the ointment is the government, who want everyone back in the city, because, oh I don't know, their sponsors tend to be wealthy landlords? Who knows?

Working from home can't be refused? I reckon that would be a bone of contention for employers and employees? Who gets to decide, if it suits the employer does the employee get any say or are they forced to work from their home while the employer gets to shut down their office? I could see that being a complete minefield to be honest...

Would need thought but perhaps distance related. Eg 60 mile commute through bad traffic counts towards a work from home status.

Been running 4 junctions southbound M1 to Luton for the last month. An unbelievable amount of traffic on such a small stretch of road.

France are rushing to bring their reactors back online - they are still in a pickle - should never have let it get to that stage.

We’ve made a killing selling power to the french for weeks now. We were upto 42GW demand at yesterdays peak so we imported some back from France and others, rather than use much coal. Ratcliffe was fired up but only for 1GW, keeping some in reserve.
Winds coming back gradually so we will start flogging cheap power back to France again soon.

To be honest, while the French nuclear plants are ageing and some well overdue for replacement, the truth is if they had been building them then edf would be in an even worse financial position than it is now, given the cost overruns and delays with their latest builds.

The stress cracking has come to light through in service inspections and I believe the first problem was found on one of the newest reactors - so again it’s hard to say that they shouldn’t be in this position when the problems couldn’t have been foreseen.

I can highly recommend it. Still do my regular number of hours, but over four days. The work/ life balance feels good. More workshop time!

Some did some didn’t - quite a few early ones never saw more than 30 years service - but just because they ran for 50 years didn’t necessarily mean they didn’t have problems in service.

What would you like them to push? They can influence (generally by taxing or giving tax breaks) but other than that if they start banning or mandating things then they get accused of being draconian.

Don't forget they also have to balance out what works economically otherwise we (as a country) end up broke. Air travel being a case in point, other than taxing it to the hilt and in the process making us uncompetitive I'm not sure what they can do? Its not that i dont agree with your point as ive not been on an abroad holiday for over 10 years. It's not an apology for the government but that's just the way things are.

There's a lot people can do as consumers without any need for gov intervention.

Without the money to buy fertilisers etc they will not survive always presuming the rich nations haven't bought all the farm land for our food and mechanised the farms to avoid employing the locals . Clearances?

In regard to having no fertilizer. Can they not just shake a bit of batshit on the crops? I know nothing about farming.
Grew up around allotments. Never used fertilizer on the plants.
