i have the very first time i had used DD car insurance they took out a payment to them early before the agreed date that cost me not one bank charges but 2 as they tried twice to take the money that wasnt there for them and that was 50.00 in bank charges at halifaxBecause there is a whole lot less work in taking payments from direct debit than anything else.
If you don't work for free, why should anyone else?
Never had an issue with direct debits themselves in 30 plus years I've used them. Seeing as they've been going since the 60's, there's remarkably little in the news about how bad they are. My mum refused to use them as she once read an article in the 1980's that said one person once maybe had a problem . . .
as ive said already those that are on prepayment meters should have equal rights to the same benefits of those cheaper tariffs as those that pay DD as they have to pay upfront for there electric usage
