Euro car parks

We have a new development here, M&S food, Toby Carvery, Subway, Papa John, Domino’s, massively busy all the time and 3 hours free parking BUT...you need to display a ticket even though it’s ANPR controlled.
It’s only opened recently but already hundreds have been slapped with PCNs either for failing to display a ticket because they didn’t realise they had to or because they entered a digit incorrectly when they put their Reg no into the ticket machine.
People have also been charged £20+ for phone calls to the parking company trying to appeal!
They’ve had so muck flak over it they’ve now changed the system so you no longer need to get a ticket but they won’t cancel any outstanding penalties.

Its legalised extortion......pop on facebook and ask in beat the Bailifs or legal beagles.

What anoys me is all these big firms have shareholders doing nothing but putting a few quid into some shares.....local councils selling of land to these animals.

When is the world going to start working for us instead of against us???

I have paid up now, so lesson learned, But it would be quite easy to exceed the free one hour limit, As I believe that there are at least 3 or 4 businesses common to that car park, Halfords, Wickes and one or two more,

Our wicks has a limit of 3hrs. When we had our kitchen designed by them I was getting twitchy as we were close to the time limit, I can't see 1hr being long enough. (We didn't buy our kitchen from them as they wouldn't listen and came up with an awful design).

I think you're lucky, wife's stepsister had one fitted by them, the fit was that poor I wouldn't wish it on anyone. The problems were never really resolved. A leak was left behind the washing machine that involved a huge insurance claim as the water had run under the floor covering & destroyed the chipboard floor. (She was warned but wouldn't listen)

Most of the car parks around here (Northumberland) give you 3 hours free - but you need to put a parking disk in the window showing when you got there. The wardens are used to folk going to the shops then running back to the cars as they forgot. Our Netto/Aldi/Lidl stores also give you 3 hours, I thought 3 hours was "normal".

I was at Netto ( or Aldi/Lidl ??) in Crook, County Durham last month. They only give 45 mins - I never noticed the different sign - very glad the lass I was visiting mentioned it to me or I would have left it for a couple of hours.

When a mate had a kitchen fitted I was talking to the workman. He said his company contracted to all the DIY stores so had experience of all their unit. He said Wickes was the worse to install.

I agree, but sadly it's a case of 'their ball, their game'.

I know we're in danger of straying fftopic: here but I just wanted to put in a defence of Wickes - we looked at a bunch of suppliers and eventually settled on them. The designer was great and we've found the quality of the units to be excellent (five years in, now).
That said, it was installed by the builders (also excellent) who did the extension at the time.

I think most kitchen units are much about the same and standard sizes so its down to the kitchen designer and the fitter on how good the kitchen is . I've wired stacks up by various fitters and company's . there are decent fitters crap fitters I see them all

Good job you didn't have anything fitted by Halfords. You'd have been there all day!!

I have to disagree, Mrs Robo paid to have a battery fitted by them, after 10 minutes of f4rting around under the bonnet, he gave her the money back and told her to go to a garage, when I got home it took me a few minutes to fit it

If there’s more than just Halfords there then 1 hr limit seems a tad harsh?

They’re one of the big players.
I think the days of ignoring PCNs are gone, the advice now is to pay as the charges rapidly escalate if you don’t and court cases almost always go in their favour.
They usually offer a discount if you pay within a certain time.

I use Halfords (site includes; aldi, pets@home, maccy d’s etc) in Selby you can be 20mins waiting for a space. I took a satnav back a few weeks ago, it took me 15mins to park, 25mins to get served, and then another 20 odd sorting it out. Didnt buy anything. Didnt get a ticket but how would I prove what I was doing?

Wifey got hammered in tescos, said she’d been overtime, turned out only one entrance camera was working so they’d ticketed loads.
