It's just new EV's. They'll pay £170 after the first year. Electric vans will pay the standard van rate.

Need to get the 6x6 running again as least that's tax exempt and MOT exempt now.

Should double it, to bring it in line with other vehicles, after all, I don't see a difference between any EV and a normal ICE vehicle of similar size.
Its supposed to be a ROAD FUND LICENCE. You are still using the same road and taking up the same space. I can see the logic of a difference between cars and commercials of various types, and electric commercials should be charged the same rate as ICE ones.
OR, how's this for an idea .......... Reduce the rates for ICE vehicles to the same level as EVs ?

Used to be, but it hasn't been for a long time. It is now VED, Vehicle Excise Licence.

Now it's £35 a year, up from £30.

It is no joke that it takes as much energy to make a car as it consumes in energy during it useful life. If batteries cost half the value of a new ev the life expectancy will be 10 to 15 years. My diesel Volvo i expect to last 25 years and when it is beyond economic repair it can be crushed.VED is based on emissions now yes?
So, if they decide to base the VED on EV emissions that include the fire & smoke......
