Was back using the EWM today, got the aft section of the table finished and the hinges welded to it.

Lifted onto the boat and the other half of the hinges welded to the table, 2m wide and total length now of 6.5m .

Went to lift the aft section to check all was well and OOPS!

Almost used another roll of wire so will have to get some more, I will buy two this time but was wondering whether I should get 1.2 in addition to the 1mm?
I used to use 1.2 all the time in my spool gun before I got the R-Tech then went to 1mm as the new spool guns rollers were 1mm and were not happy with 1.2.
I am just not sure whether pulse makes a difference and whether I can use 1.2mm on thinner stuff (3 and 4mm)

1.2 works great for me.
Get quality wire if you can, it works much better. Esab or Bolher

Esab is what I have at the minute, comes from alcotec in the USA. Really clean stuff. Cleaner than tig filler rods.

It will work great, you'll need a 1.2mm roller in the PP gun, if you stick with the 1.0mm roller you'll chew up the wire.

Good morning gents.
Safra is what is classes as the 'best' wire for feed and for consictency here. And yes I only use 1.2mm for all gauges of parent materials. I have welded 2mm to 1.5 so far it did need some tweeking but good.

Got sent a vid today of the table in action. Always great to see that everything works as intended and good to see that the rope guide rails are working especially the one at the table hinges.
Video of the creels shooting away, Cat looks like it is hardly moving but it is doing 7 knots.

Good morning Hood.
Interesting to see how the other side of the world dose it. Very different from what is done here, in our summer time 'pots' as we call them are about 1.8m by 1.8m by 1.2m and are put in anywhere from 70 to 100 fathoms and left there for a week or two, also dependent on the current, which can leave the head gear down for weeks also. Fish 'trapping' is done in shallower water 30 to 90 fathoms and the gear can be pulled daily.

Henry, these ones are close in so the water is not too deep, you may have noticed when the flag was thrown away that there was a bunch of tied rope, that is untied when they put them in deeper water.
We call them creels up this way ( also Sunks) but further south they call them lobster/crab pots.
They are usually fished every day but some boats work so much gear it takes 4 or 5 days to get round them. There is talk of the Arbroath area getting gear limits for a trial period as the amount of gear worked is getting scary and how the lobsters are surviving I have no idea. Most of the Fishermen are in agreement that limits on gear is needed, just the amount that they have disagreements about

They don't use creels for fish here, just lobster, crab and prawns (langoustine) although the latter is mainly on the West coast of Scotland.
