OMG i am actually on the cool board

I have be been thinking last few days and what to do. I am not doing to good still. today it took me over an hour to do a drop link on T`s car. Not good and have been in agony since.

So this came back again to make this easier on me.
I dont like to bodge things but in a way this is not bodging, but then it is.

The bulkheads are damp and some rotten to a few layers of the ply. Noe i will dig more into them next week but the idiea is as they will have new surfaces of either carpet or veneer anyway so i could use the wood hardener stuff.
They are only damp/wet/rotten around where the condensation from the floor and windows got to the ply.
This will save me a whole lot of ball ache and stress.

Today at last engines are out

I had to widen the gantry first to got it around the boat as it was about 50mm to narrow. but doing this also made it higher, so now able to move the gantry over the boat instead of around which would of been a pain in the ****. .

To make it easy to do i used U bolts to hold one end and then welded the other end then slid the U bolted end to the end of the new too RHS beam.

then plated the sides to beef it up more and welded in two lengths of 50x6mm bar to make the trolley track

It didnt take to long to get them out but if we first had the correct angle on the first engine it would of been quicker.

I am still shocked that they are held in place with just six M8 bolts around and no engine mounts but just through the transom.

This is a mate that gave me a hand as still struggling so that was very much appreciated

I have made a couple of engine stands aswell for them.

I started to strip down the dodgy engine so i could sort eh stand mounting hole pattern, and found this in the drive plates. Think i need to replace these

Ill finish tomorrow the stands and then get stripping this one down.

so got the dodgy engine stripped, and as i thought from the start but wasnt to sure due to the steel feel and sound when the engine locked up.

Now its to crack testing the head and go from there now. full rebuild ahead for these two.

It may be worthwhile getting the exhaust manifolds checked for cracks as well. That a lot of water been getting in the bores.

Well head is off and what the heck .

So it was Hydrolocled, only rotated in one direction by hand.

What is the black crumbly gritty stuff ?

I am taking it for crack testing this week so need to clean it up a bit i think. Just wonder what it is.

Volvo Penta AQ130 B20, these are out of my bout.

I think the snapped valve on number 4 had a bigger say in why the motor would,nt turn a full 360

Going to get the acetone and brake fluid out tomorrow and see how it cleans up. could be savable
From mooching about the internet it more carbon build up. i hope lol

Was thinking that as i have a sand blaster. I asked the engine chaps today if they will fit new valve seat, they can if its flat, what ever they mean as there kit is an old type. If not i know another local place who can. but they cant crack test it as there machine is broke lol.

Ill clean it up and soo whats what. i know of a few full engines going to waiting for prices.
