If you buy a cheaper brake flarer, they will only be able to make an sae flare. The more expensive tools like Sykes pickavant will have dies to make both. As long as you don’t mix sae and din at the point of joining then you’ll be fine. Although if your using copper or kunifer pipe you’ll read many accounts of people mixing and having no problems due to the flare deforming to fit whatever is screwed onto it. It’s definitely not good practice, both the shape of the flare and the angle of the sealing faces are different so shouldn’t be mixed.
