also the sameI’ve used a pump up garden sprayer - worked just fine, if you have a helper then a big brush (soft floor brush works well) coming along behind just to work it in does great and gets it in all the corners but it’s not strictly necessary. We did our fence in an hour or so, as opposed to the day it used to take purely hand painting it
customer gets the option though if they want brush they get charged whatever time it takes as much as i tell them i can be done in less time and they pay less
also wear eye googles and a mask you dont want to breath spray paint in

Dont do it, it sort of works (sometimes) but it makes an awfull mess with overspray everywhere
Ask me how i know
Even the pump up sprayers are pretty rubbish

I’d agree it would make a mess of painting in situ and if you have stuff nearby - we have concrete boards and posts so remove the panels which prevents this.

Fence painting with sprayer took around 2 hours.
2 days to clean the window glass and frames, then there was my car !!!

Very good point though, if you have stuff close by then brush can be neater!
A good compromise we found for doing panels which we couldn't lift out was to do the centre (Prob about 80% of panel) with sprayer and then finish edges with brush. It's still much quicker than brush alone.

I was thinking of spraying the panels before fitting.
I'm not sure if that would cause a problem handling them after.

No2 son's was the last fence I did.
As the panels were held on with panel clips I removed them all and stacked them on top of each other on a pair of saw horses.
Old dustsheets were pinned to the lawn underneath.
Then I sprayed them with some cheap imitation creosote using the paraffin gun that came with a cheap '5 Piece Set' from Lidl or Machine Mart or wherever.
Worked perfectly well once the nozzle of the gun was adjusted correctly.
Stacked them all in a pile on a pair of sawhorses.
Spray all the edges and the top face of the top panel.
Turn over, spray the other side and transfer to a second pile.
Rinse and repeat until finished or terminal boredom sets in.
Top tip:
choose a still day!
Spray the top surface from all directions to get the product into all the nooks and crannies.
Edit: the posts were brush painted in situ.

To be honest with you there was a light breeze which i didn't notice in the garden. However when i got close to the house i still didn't notice it too much until i saw the brown speckled white UPVC window framesMate, how bad is your aim! I wouldn't like to see the state of your lavvy

I dont like spraying. Last summer i bought a spray gun and after some advice from here i (sort of) learned how to spray paint some furniture
Im still picking out Farrow and Balls finest soft white eggshell from my black G shock watch

3x3 pop up gazebo are cheap on amazon. I used one a few months ago to spray acrylic onto some costom made wardrobe doors.
Ill be using it to paint the fences this summer but Ill probly use one of those cheap and nasty airless spayers. I dont want to run the 3kW compressor if I can help it.

Airless spray might be better, but as above the overspray can get everywhere, the neighbours sprayed their fence and my new shed (by accident) never managed to get it off, tried most things. 3 years later its still like they sprayed my shed yesterday.

I used one of those paraffin spray guns that come with compressor accessory kits. Worked fine with Creocote.
Beware of the overspray going into your Koi Pond......it does not end well.

I was just going tohighlight this…in my last house the neighbour sprayed his fence, and some of my nice new volvo!
I tried an airless on my shed, used more paint than needed and it was quicker with a brush. Next time, it will be odd job man from the village as Ihate painting anything
Is this some new high tech undergarment which will shock if you watch?
