I would use it as a means to use up worn 4.5" and 5" discs just turn up a redcing bush and away u go maybe

Has anyone had any success with sticking the belts back together?
I’ve had a few let go recently after a few seconds use. My fault as I’m doing edge work but it seems a shame to waste them when they split at the tape.
I’ve tried lots of different tape to repair them but no joy. I know they’re only pence but I don’t like wasting them

I have had several B&D powerfiles over the years, mainly used on boats they are just the job for removing the peened over ends of copper rivets in restoration work. Though variable speed i never use the faster speeds as i find them too fast.
Im in the middle of a complex restoration job & found that the side mounted motor of the B&D is awkward in confined spaces.
So i just got a Sealey powerfile, it is variable speed & on its lowest speed is nice & slow allowing fine work to be done. It appears to be almost identical to other offerings by the likes of Silverline. Im hoping that it lasts longer than the last Silverline tool i bought that let its magic smoke out after just 12 minutes!
Just bought a pile of belts from Abrasives world & they last very well.

I'll tell you about my experience with Silverline. I once bought a hand pump sprayer from them which was blowing out the safety release valve on arrival.
I decided I was done with Silverline and as such returned the pump and a set of hex drivers from the same order. Amazon decided they wanted neither of them back, but credited me anyway. They didn't want to even cover the cost of receiving them back when they knew they were going to be broken lol... that tells me that they must get a lot of Silverline stuff back.
Well so far the sealey has done well, its inline motor & ability to alter the belt angle means it can get places the B&D with its bulky side mounted motor cant. Slowest speed is excellent for the job im doing.
As for Silverline theres a thread about them on here, I wouldnt intentionally buy anything with their name on it.
Sealey on the other hand have had some absolutely bulletproof tools in their line up. The Sealey Random orbital sander i have is now over 30 years old & still going strong. We will see how this powerfile goes!
