More work with the block of wood at the bottom of the door.from the bottom to the below the window
I thought that about the paint as soon as I realised how far out it was.bit late ,,, but its best to get a reasonable fit on lr doors before you paint them , then you dont crack the paint ,,, the bottom corner has to be right ish and the body line then its just brute force ,, we use a portapower on the doors , or the body to get them to fit ,,, but at least they are in the hole , believe it or not thats a mighty good start .
those doors you have just taken off will have a decent resale value , Ive repaired a lot worse and folk have been glad of them ,,, dont just bin them .
ive seen me put them on the ramp and ratchet strap a six foot bit of 50 50 box on the inside where the window gap is at the top where the handle usually tears them , trouble is that can get a bit brutal ,, and they can tear. use a block of wood where the bar crosses the door bottom to so as to spread the loadI thought that about the paint as soon as I realised how far out it was.
I have offered the old doors to @willie.macleod on the forum.
take a pic looking down the vehicle to get a look at front edge alignment ,, although it looks not too bad
YesIs it on flat ground
its genuinely how I do them ,,, lolThat made me laugh![]()
The stainless hinges have not seen much use, no discernible wear.Is there any wear in your hinge pins? I normally aim for a 88 cm gap between the tub and bulkhead. I’d say a few hinge shims would get you very close part no:BDC710040 for “td5” style hinges you have fitted, earlier square hinges are a different shape if buying shims just. A knee in the middle and a pull on the corner is normally the go to for me I’ve fitted more than a few doors in my life to them![]()
Thanks John, am back to work tomorrow, so will get a risk then^^ Looks pretty good, Tom- take a day or two rest before tackling the other side.
