could be worth seeing if he still uses it
it was i big beast it would bend 50 x 10 not a problem
do what hot?Do it hot if your struggling
not for sale ,if you were nearer, youd be welcome to use it, free for a member.Hi have you any pics of it and is it for sale?
what type of cut does it leave nice and flush or squashed and is they any issues with the blades going bluntI made a slightly tougher version of the MM bender. Does 40x10 without much trouble. Don't think I allowed enough room to put 50X10 flat in it.
My bench shear will easily cut 8mm rod. Not got the hole cutter version, but in the normal jaws.
Just tried a cut and there is a bit of distortion at the top of the cut. Bit like if you had touched it with a flap disc at 45°.what type of cut does it leave nice and flush or squashed and is they any issues with the blades going blunt
How would you do it?Nice! Easy to make the clamp bit.
yeah thats what i was thinking i would of been great to get it close to original though, i have been looking and its a solid block of steel with an offset hole and there is a long pin/post which is also reduced sized and offset at the end and so when you turn it it pushes the block to the fixed plate clamping it then the grub screw would i assume once tightened lock it all in.Take a guide from the one linked in #18. Put a post in the hole, locked in with the grub screw. Mount a block with screws acting on a plate to clamp the work against the fixed section.
to be honest i have a lathe but still new to me really so i know only real basic stuff it does seem in good nick it has had a weld repair of the removable jaw i think you can see in the pics but i have turned the jaw around it doesn't seem like its been abused. If you have a lathe, how about an eccentric bush in the block that cams the block to the work. Have a lever on the bush and some thread on the top of the post to tighten it down. (Bit like you said..) The hole in the block bored as you say, offset, so you have four different measurements to the faces, to allow for différences in the thickness of bar. I would rather have a big nut on top of the post, than rely on the grub screw to tighten the post from turning.
Really good tenner's worth.
