Is the Ford Fiesta about to be killed off?

Reports suggest the Ford Fiesta - a best-seller in the UK for yonks - could soon be pulled from sale. Say it ain’t so

bit of a shocker that, i always thought the fiesta was the UKs best selling car for yonks but apparently its not even been in the top 10 recently?

Never been a big fiesta fan but would be a shame to see it gone. Espcially if its replaced by yet another electric crossover/hatchback on stilts

well my takeawy from it is that the focus will be their smallest hatchback from now on

No... Skoda has pulled the Citigo from its "portfolio". Only VW offer the platform as an UP - in high spec form.

Times are changing....

The car manfacturers cannot make money out of small cars!

my first car, at the tender age of 17, but with the 4 spoke alloys, a 1300s as my Dad wouldn't lend me any more money to buy the MkI XR2.

used to eat driveshaft universal joints and clutch cables.......I used to carry a spare universal joint and tools to do the job at the side of the road, in the boot

Had quite a few of the different marks over the years, and eventually an XR2....then wanted the Turbo, but never got round to it.

great car, another one bites the dust.

You wont catch me in an oversized 4x4 milkfloat......

I realise I'm not exactly the target demographic, but I had no idea they were still making the Fiesta. If anyone had asked I'd have said they stopped with the frog looking one in the '90s.

I worked for a mazda dealership at the time they rebadged a fiesta as the new 121, worst car ever sold as a mazda.
The vw up is the car you will see at the front of most slow moving traffic, if not the up then its most likely to be some other small car with a flat back end.Years back it would be a blue metro, then as times went on a nissan micra, now the small flat backed car.

Unfortunately it will be replaced by an electric crossover, presumably in the form of the Puma. I've just taken delivery of a Fiesta ST (my fourth and sadly final one) and Ford are clearly running down production. I got lucky and picked up a dealer demo that was already partly built, having waited for my original order since February only to have it changed from a 3dr to a 5dr (and still without a build date).

The Focus will be discontinued in 2025, again to be replaced by an electric crossover as far as I'm aware. I suspect it will be a rebadged VW.

Again, a sad state of affairs. I've had (and have) ST/RS Focuses as well as Fiestas, they're great cars. Even the base models have always been entertaining to drive, but all that's to be swept aside in the name of "progress"....

Me and the Mrs had a black 1.1. It handled dreadfully, but was reliable. If I recall I bought a set of Monroe struts from Demon Tweeks, transformed it. When driven for more than half an hour it stunk like the proverbial - turned out the carpet and soundproofing was sodden.

When you see those 'flat backed' cars, Cinquecento for example, creeping around Birmingham there's usually an Audi hatchback with blacked out windows swinging from side to side about the thickness of a fag paper from the back bumper. I often wonder how the scenario ends.

I've yet to be in the right place at the right time to see what happens when some pencil necked scrote starts yelling stuff frequently punctuated with "innit bruv" at a member of the criminally bewildered. I can only imagine it will end in further confusion for both.

Just heard it on the radio, having just recently (well, six months ago...) bought my first Ford, at the grand age of 51.

Saddened me a bit to see another once British Ford icon disappear off the map; used to regularly pass the former Transit home outside Southampton.

Ford has never been British - it has always been owned and run by people in America....

We in the UK - just bought it - paid for it - and drove it - the Ford badge....

I've had a Fiesta for the last 8 years. Never have taken to it, it could have been a very good car and Ford's build quality is now a lot better than most including the German stuff, but the stupid upswept sides and tiny back window make it really crap at rearward and three quarter vision. Can't even see my trailer. Low profile tyres ruin the ride too. Sadly 90% of modern hatchbacks are the same. It isn't a small car, like golfs and minis, each new model gets a bit bigger, until they are no longer aimed at the market the earlier ones catered for. There are very few new cars a similar size to MK1 Golf, Metro, and early Fiesta. What is going to happen to anyone unable to afford to maintain the bloated, over complex computerised rubbish that the makers are now churning out, I don't know. Incidentally my Fiesta was made in the Czech Republic.
