Thanks to all those who have followed the thread and offered support along the way. It's been a slow process and I estimate I probably spent around 70hrs working on it... however over half of that time was spent just looking at it trying to work things out - if I was to do this knowing what I do now though I reckon It would take me less than half that time easily. Far from putting me off this type of work I on the whole enjoyed doing it and would have no hesitation in starting something like this in future.
As for rough costs if anyone else is thinking of tackling a Fourtrak in similar condition.... I used maybe 2/3 of a 5kg roll of 0.6mm wire, one 20l (200bar) bottle of argon mix gas maybe £10/£15 worth of cutting / flap discs etc and two 1.2m x 2.4m sheets of 1.2mm zintec at £45 and a can of cavity wax. Paint wise - half a tin of weld through primer, a 500ml tin of Aldi metal care paint and about the same of red oxide. Painter says he used about 2.5 tins of stone chip - not sure about 2k blue & clear coat but wouldn't have been much. I've not totalled it all up accurately but it's looking like it'll be somewhere just over £200 all in. Expensive in a way but on the other hand just sourcing commercially available replacement outer sills would have cost £160 alone!
Anyone in the right mind would never consider paying anyone to do this amount of work but as a DIY job discounting time spent it's been very cost effective and a good learning experience.
