Folk have BASE jumped from less!185ft is the highest I've been in a cherry picker and driven it, I believe Snorkel now make 210ft picker, but I'm not sure if it can be driven at full height....
185ft was butt clenching enough for me while driving it....
One company I worked for owned a protype scissor lift that could be drive at 100ft, now that was truely frightening, because you couldnt see the base chassis or the scissor pack....
That's because it's far away, it's a lot bigger when you are close up.
Like Father Ted trying to explain perspective to Dougal using the toy cow.![]()
I was once offered the experience of going up a wind turbine by the Danish firm I worked for......I built a proto type head for it.....
my feet stayed on the ground......hahaha........
Just look strait down, try the lattice radio towers 400/500 ft & HigherThat's because it's far away, it's a lot bigger when you are close up.
I'd like to know how much the wind turbine tower I occasionally climb moves in a good wind. You can feel it swaying but there's no reference point I can use.
Our hydraulic platforms used to give me the jitters at work. They blew around all over, and they were fastened to a Scania truck...
That thing looks like it's fastened to something the size of a wheel barrow...
Have used them in the past, great fun. The grief usually happens when some muppet uses it as crane to lift/remove something heavy. Two blokes and a tool box = ok.
Yep. Used to have to go up the boresight tower for the satellite dishes I looked after, 600 foot, to change the red bulb to keep aircraft away... The climb bothered me more than the height!Just look strait down, try the lattice radio towers 400/500 ft & Higher
And find out the new bulb is a dud.
Boy's !! This a proper job.
Long way down if a change in underwear is required.I can sense the ring twitch from here...
