the 45ft booms are enough for me. been in a 60ft one, was ok close to a building but feels super sketchy out in the middle of nowhere.

185ft is the highest I've been in a cherry picker and driven it, I believe Snorkel now make 210ft picker, but I'm not sure if it can be driven at full height....

185ft was butt clenching enough for me while driving it....

One company I worked for owned a protype scissor lift that could be drive at 100ft, now that was truely frightening, because you couldnt see the base chassis or the scissor pack....

I don't mind the height - it's the hitting the ground bit I'm afraid of.

I have fond memories where I hired one privately (Full size diesel genie lift) and used it to cut down massive beech trees at my house. I cut the limbs into log sections and set them into the basket with me until I felt it was particularly sketchy then I would lower down enough to chuck em out and that they should land in my ground.

I was up so high I could see down my house chimney stack.

I'm sure you all agree I do not recommend at all and ensure you wear hard hats at all times including grocery shopping. Have mom on speed dial also plz.

I'd like to know how much the wind turbine tower I occasionally climb moves in a good wind. You can feel it swaying but there's no reference point I can use.

Just look strait down, try the lattice radio towers 400/500 ft & Higher

Our hydraulic platforms used to give me the jitters at work. They blew around all over, and they were fastened to a Scania truck...
That thing looks like it's fastened to something the size of a wheel barrow...

I wonder if West Mids Volvos are more stable?, the outriggers look substantial.

I've used one to lift a fan up to a roof, only about 50kg but an awkward size to manhandle up there so we strapped it on top of the basket then I drove it up with the ground controls until my mates could unload it onto the roof.

A number of years ago we were doing some work at a house opposite Redcar race course. Meat head in the garden next door up in a cherry picker with binoculars and a mobile phone.

The home owner we were working for was a police sargeant. Asked him what the score is, so before race finished bloke was placing bets on line as he could see what the result would be.

The racecourse weren't happy, but he wasn't breaking any laws. They had sent some boys to stop him to no avail. They had put up mobile sun shades to hide the finish line, so a bigger cherry picker was delivered.

Yep. Used to have to go up the boresight tower for the satellite dishes I looked after, 600 foot, to change the red bulb to keep aircraft away... The climb bothered me more than the height!
Going to 75 ft in the cherry picker for the 60 ft dish was quite tame in comparison, especially being inside a golfball with no wind! More fun with those was when you passed your final ticket as station engineer, a ride in the Vertex Room (where the signal reflects back to, on the back of the dish) as it went through its test routine - horizon to vertical, 180 pirouette and down to the opposite horizon in about 10 seconds... And repeat. BIG servos, those.
