I built my locost to drive and have fun with. It always brings a smile to my face when I drive it . Spent way more than Mr Champions £250 though

A mate of mine had a Ferrari 360 - brand new. He was such a poseur! We were driving along the seafront - he was loving all the attention. Suddenly everyone was pointing and gawping. Ferrari totally forgotten. There was an Ultima behind us!We had one turn up at my old workshop about 2003-4 I think.

But then that loses me the view...(ignore for a second that this is looking forwards, I haven't had the engine in while at the same time had the window cut in the bulkhead)
But seriously, I'm not after massive power. ~300HP will be fine.
Haven't sorted the clutch plate yet, I have a pressure plate and two clutch plates that fit the gearbox, only issue is one is sprung and the sprung centre hits the pressure plate, the other is un-sprung but I'm not sure if I want a *totally* unsprung setup. Might see if I can't find a sprung one that fits (my only other choice being to machine the pressure plate and I'm loath to do that).

Unsprung one (this one was new).
I ran the unsprung plates from a 928 on the G50`s with no issues.

Good to know... particularly as that clutch was an ebay bargain, brand new for £10! I may see if there is a better one still as the most powerful engine used with it was only 230hp. Then again the pressure plate is a "performance" one so probably fine.
One thing you need to watch out for with mixing/matching clutch plates is that the thickness is compatible with the pressure plate, too thick or thin can lead to slip. Clamping forces are calculated for a specific plate thickness, there isn't much scope for variations in a pressure plate.

For me its not about the value with hand built cars, its about the engineering that goes into them
She is a petrolhead and if anything she wants me to get it completed so she can have a drive!
