lifetime warranty for breakages not fare wear and tear. if it was id use there screwdrivers as they only last a year and the tips are shagged same as any other I use wera driversThsts the major appeal. No question replacement for life.
I don't care what people say SO tools might be the best but they are not lifetime warranty.
There is always a quibble with often a negative result.
Sorry mate couldn't disagree more. Have also owned both sets of spanners and there is a lot between them. Chrome is not as comparable It was worn off round the front ends of my HF pros after couple years. and weight is miles off unless your SO spanner is a hollow one. My old halfords set were good but they were thinner across the back and dug in more I found. Don't get me wrong lots of good gear out there and the snap on stuff is over priced I wouldn't want to buy it twice. That said especially spanners I am yet a use a better one. Also, "not as good as snap-on"...
How not as good?
I have a couple of s-o sockets, and I have hal-pro sockets.
Chrome is comparable, weight is comparable, the sizes are within spec. so they fit fasteners of the stated size and turn them.
What makes one worse and the other better?
Now, I also have a s-o 13mm spanner and (unless I need 2) I grab the hal-pro one in preference because it doesn't dig into my hand in the same way...
We had a shiney set of them at work until some tealeaf had em. They were lovely things to use.I have a set of kenedy pro spanners and there the bees knees supposed to be about 120 quid a set but I got em second hand for 30 quid in mint condition
I get a year out of my Elliot lucas snips they get used 7 days a week and I cut the steel socket screws down with them regular and I only pay a tenner for themas a lad I paid a weeks wages for a pair of snap(appropriate) on side cutters, within weeks edges had a nick out of them, agent flattly refused refund or exchange, never would I or will I buy snap on again, con men full stop.Arther .yes they only cut copper wire as armature winder didnt go near anything else.
Knipex are your friends for cutting. I do have an old SO pair but they don't see much use now as I bought 2 knipex pairs for the same money and I prefer them.as a lad I paid a weeks wages for a pair of snap(appropriate) on side cutters, within weeks edges had a nick out of them, agent flattly refused refund or exchange, never would I or will I buy snap on again, con men full stop.Arther .yes they only cut copper wire as armature winder didnt go near anything else.
Most of the pro tools have a lifetime warranty apart from ratchets, knuckle joints etc, so the parts that wear then![]()
I'm a serious hobbist and all my sockets spanned etc etc are Halfords pro. I use the stuff reasonably regularly and abuse it if I have to. It's all been serving me well since purchase, well over 15 years ago
My 3/8 ratchet does need replacing as it has started to slip but its easily the most used bit in the set so I cant fault it.
