Have got just a couple of hundred litres left in our tank. When it’s gone it’s gone as they say. Two wood burners will be busy this winter and some extra clothes.
I've been hanging on too but ordered some today at 91p/L.
I know it's gone up but you'd have to be buying a massive amount for it to be £400 more expensive today?
According to Boilerjuice price charts it hasn't actually risen that much, their average price for England says 98p/l for yesterday
I’ve ordered 1000 as that should see us through winter but if it drops soon I’ll add some. The bit that scares me is even that these prices my heating is still cheaper than mains gas.
If you order 3500 then officially you should pay full vat, anything above 2300L attracts commercial rating. That said it’s been mentioned on this forum that some places don’t apply those rules

Let down by allocated Boilerjuice supplier arriving with too larger tanker. So 85p/ltr gone. Can re-order at 95p. So told them to shove it out of spite. Getting 500ltr top up on 1,000ltr reserve from Home Fuels Direct, then wait to see what next summer brings...
I thought you could sign to say it was domestic to get the lower rate?

Out of interest...I've got what I thought was the largest tank (2,500ltr) that regulations allowed on a domestic property? Has that changed or am I mistaken? I've plenty of room for addtional storage.
Watching with interest. We had to replace our tank old single-skin plastic tank recently. Got a larger, bunded model. Great! So now have the capacity to price hedge for Winter.
I normally just ring around our local half-dozen supliers for a quote - they tend to vary who’s least expensive, so the trade is spread. Lowest quote last week was around 85p + VAT. The £$ was around 1.20. Now it’s around 1.16. Ouch! As mentioned above, I think that’s the culprit (among other things).
Going to have to bite the bullet some time, but maybe wait another 2/3 weeks. Was hoping to see 75p. Dream on!

I dont know tbh. I bought it secondhand. The FAQs on boilerjuices page suggest its fine for domestic but has to be bunded at that capacity (mine is).
If worse comes to worse i will order 2300l through my local account and top up another 1200 through boilerjuice or similar?! But the plan was to have capacity to buy enough when its cheap.

Provided it's for domestic use then you don't have a limit - but the provider has to be certain that it's for domestic use (officially "qualifying uses" of which domestic is one).

My take on that is that any oil (fuel oil, gas oil and kerosine) under 2300 are subject to 5% VAT provided they're not for certain uses. So you don't need to be domestic / not-for-profit to still be able to get 5% if you order under 2300 litres. E.g. a commercial property could use kerosene for heating and have 5% VAT provided they only use under 2300 litres.

I've got about 5000 litres of storage and they've happily filled up that at the 5% rate rather than 20%. They have made a mistake once but corrected it upon querying it.

Which is good for moi, as I get my pension paid in US$.

I know they are very successfull but I still don't get the whole Boilerjuice popularity, it's not them delivering the oil it's one of your local suppliers. I do get the whole ordering online thing but I would genuinely make a couple of calls to local suppliers
I do a Boilerjuice Quote every time just in case I am missing something and they are never cheaper,here's some real numbers from yesterday from Boilerjuice, I am getting my delivery either Fri or Monday for 91.5 through a local supplier and I am in full control. They will even text me when the delivery is scheduled.
Now here is probably where they make their money, this is their standard price, delivery up to 2 weeks, I have no idea why the emergency deliveries are cheaper but I guess due to market volatility
I was obviously tired when I post as I had found the bit about declaring it as domestic in the oil tank post from the other day.
Yes, I was obviously a bit tired and forgot that I found that detail on the gov site recently

I have 750 litres arriving this week, bought it last week for 88ppl, boilerjuice at the same time was 93ppl.
I think a lot of boilerjuice customers just order online without shopping around - but the difference is better in your pocket than theirs for the sake of a couple of phone calls.

This is strange, I’ve done comparison direct with ticknells and western fuels, also a local buying group and another comparison site, boiler juice have always managed a penny or two cheaper, maybe a local thing
Can get the odd anomalies but this is over the last ten years, not just recently.

Stock market oil prices are tumbling in last 48hrs, will be a delay to our market or we may indeed never see it if it recovers quickly.
Im probably going to order next week and hoping for back in the high 80p range
