Did a bit of agency work for the odd trip over the years to keep the hours up on my vantage card (use it or lose it and often I wouldn’t get on a heli for months). Anyway. I did 2no 3week trips on one rig. The radio operator was a big fat fk. He was made by everyone else, forcefully a few times, to sit in the middle seat. His nickname was ‘plug’. You can work out why I’d think if you’ve ever seen the windows on a 139
Who knew you could find even more reasons to not go in a helicopter over water
Get that listed on here!We get some huge chunks of Tungsten from balance weights. About the size of a small loaf of bread. All go in the metal skip.![]()
We had one chopper take off from the rear helideck of one of our ships, then witnesses saw it just move across and drop down into the water. Nobody had any idea why, nothing sounded amiss, motors were still running etc. These people are just fekking dangerous and every single one I have ever met are very selfish to boot.
I was in the Gulf of Mexico and our "ferry" was a yank who thought he was on combat missions all of the time. His party piece was to fly full chat at wave top height and give it full collective at the last minute, leaving your guts about sea level. It all ended badly apparently, thankfully I wasn't there to experience it.
My best experiences were all with Dutch crews, they seemed to have the best food and best booze of all, but again that sometimes ended badly :-)
Absolutely. I’d buy a chunk.Get that listed on here!
None. Other than it may come in handy…..Some 30kg chunks are being used to weigh down some Tarps. One wonders what other use there is for it??
Well, it does have almost exactly the same atomic mass as gold, so with a bit of plating it'll look quite good sat on your deskSome 30kg chunks are being used to weigh down some Tarps. One wonders what other use there is for it??
