Hello! New here and want to work on oil rigs please

Oh no the pics Iv got are of some of my tig stuff 5cm stainless pipe. 15cm mild steel pipe I stick welded and things. Wen I get chance I'll add some pictures up

Sorry if i havn't read this correctly, but you've been welding for say 7 months now and you feel that you can work on Oil Rigs?? I know the money is great, but its high for a reason, and that reason is years of experiance and education. You do need a big bunch of qualifications and have all your health and safety training, also your Codings cost money to be honest to get the bear minium qualifications, if you pass that is its probably going to cost you in the region of about £5,000. Plus you just don't have enough experiance yet, & months experiance will not get you a job on an oil rig.

Sorry for being a pain but you really need to take it one step at a time and go the right route with say an apprentice scheme, get yourself qualified as a Weder /Fabricator and then do your codings and other qualifications.

In all honesty i would imagine that you need a minimum of at least 5 to 6 years post qualification experiance before even being considered for an offshore position

im a good welder but that means nowt ive got an apprentice whose past all his exams with distinction but i wouldnt let him loose on low voltage lighting in a bog without checking it after 2 years il let him do stuff without supervision maybee

I don't think your listening to what people are saying and i mean people with years experiance and qualifications. Paying to do your offshore safety (In the region of at least £700) will not get you a job on oil rigs.

You need qualifications and practical work experiance and i don't mean just doing 7 months welding, you need to look at this more seriously otherwise people will think this is some sort of wind up or joke.

What did you do before you started welding?? How old are you??

I'm listening but I don't understand I asked what's involved and everyone says you need to be good and do codes?? If I do the codes and survival what would the problem be? Sorry if im annoying you im just keen to earn some better money! I'm on my way home, I'll upload some pictures of welds I have done and the way I did them. I don't know, maybe I find it easy to weld Iv read through 1000's of pages on the Internet to learn stuff and to put it into practice!

Not just qualifications. The biggest criteria ,which has been mentioned, to even be considered for assessment is the minimum 5 years on the job experience. This meaning, you need to have been welding in a job on a regular basis for said period of time.

phew! finally home! ok im on the 'better halfs' mini laptop thingy! ill try and upload the pictures now of the bits iv been practising with!

ok.... i dont know how to. so ill email them to rtbcomp and hopefully he wil put them on here.
one is a 5cm stainless pipe i did with tig at 45degrees with gas inside the pipe,
another is of a 15cm pipe i did with a stick welder all from the outside one pic is the inside of the 'gold' go. the other is outside when i put halfway through the 'silver' go round.
the last is a pic of some brackets i had to do (all 280 of them) which was 0.3cm steel to 1cm stainless steel i did with the tig i havent cleaned any of the welds so you can see how they are before they are cleaned or dressed up

im 21, before welding i was at college doing horticulture (yeh... i know ) then i was working doing groundworks and labouring work... at least it paid the bills tho

Goodwelder, if you're serious, go along to your local ECITB office, show them the pics of your welds and see if they can recommend a good local engineering company for you to go and have a chat with. You need to do an apprenticeship if you want to work anywhere good.

At work on Monday I'll do it again and will weld something onto it so you can see? Will you believe me then? Non is automated!
