Chinese quality slipping more than likely…
It should be pretty much through-tapped for the drawbar
I find it harder and harder to source anything of quality these day...
Slot in tool is only 15.85Most of RDG's stuff is sourced from India.
Drive dog on spindle should be 15.9 (b1 dimension): http://www.manufacturinget.org/home/4472-computer-aided-design/lab-assignments/spindle-nose-taper/
Slot in tool should be 16.1 (d6 dimension): https://www.kemmler-shop.de/en/din-69871-iso-7388-1/technical-information/

Does the 14mm diameter tapping drill hole go deep enough? Maybe that is what is stopping the tap itself advancing.
Is the thread too short or your drawbar too long? Normally, 1 x D thread engagement is ample (think of how thick a standard M16 nut is - if that develops full strength, any extra length of engagement is unnecessary).
Interesting to know. We’ve all seen the way they manufacture things. Lots of ingenuity but not to any standards when they’re melting any old scrap and machining items using cardboard templates. Most of RDG's stuff is sourced from India.
Not all Indian companies like that. In fact most of the YouTube ones are in Pakistan.Interesting to know. We’ve all seen the way they manufacture things. Lots of ingenuity but not to any standards when they’re melting any old scrap and machining items using cardboard templates.
Chinese labours gone up a lot in recent years so they must be cheaper…
You get what you pay for, regardless of where it's made.Interesting to know. We’ve all seen the way they manufacture things. Lots of ingenuity but not to any standards when they’re melting any old scrap and machining items using cardboard templates.

I guess that explains it, had a few off things from them. Most of RDG's stuff is sourced from India.
Sadly not any more. I could have got the same chuck half the price from some Chinese suppliers. You get what you pay for, regardless of where it's made.
It may pain some people to know, but India and China can and do produce high quality parts.
It's just most people prefer to buy the cheap stuff.
I'll just leave this here - https://phoenixtoolings.com/index.htmlI guess that explains it, had a few off things from them.
India does not like to do anything on a large scale, it is all made by a guy sitting in the dirt with a hammer and chisel. Bloody good but doesnt suit tight QC.
China is the opposite, everything on a massive scale by the billion. Every obscure item ever made, theres a giant warehouse full of it.
Had a look but cant see any on amazon.
