So, the problem you have is you didn't buy an INT40.
You bought an NMTB40 (often shortened to NMT or in your case NT 40). While the taper is the same the rest isn't.
If that's what they listed it as then the problem is you ordered the wrong thing. If they listed it as an INT 40 then it's not.
Of course it doesn't really help that manufacturers mix and match the standards, typically an NT would be an imperial thread yet you will find them with metric threads.
