Help int 40 won't fit

So, the problem you have is you didn't buy an INT40.

You bought an NMTB40 (often shortened to NMT or in your case NT 40). While the taper is the same the rest isn't.

If that's what they listed it as then the problem is you ordered the wrong thing. If they listed it as an INT 40 then it's not.

Of course it doesn't really help that manufacturers mix and match the standards, typically an NT would be an imperial thread yet you will find them with metric threads.

It was sold as an int40
There other tooling which I suspect is also Chinese is fine. Most NT40 Chinese stuff fits int40 no problem from the people I have spoken to
Why fo manufacturers take an international standard and mess about with it?
Scart, usb, Bluetooth, hdmi, and loads of audio standards are also anything but standard sadly.

I find a DRO essential on a mill but less so on my lathe.

I think my feelings will probably be similar.

It will be good to not have to measure manually on the Z-axis on the lathe. The X-axis should speed things up by having to manually measure a bit less too.

Yes I find it very handy for the z axis.
Less so for the cross slide.
They should do single scale sets

Just discovered why carbide taps aren't very common.
You can get them for doing hardened steel up to 60 Rockwell

Thanks to @sako243 and others for persuading me to take another look at Cutwell. Yes a lot of their stuff is expensive but their collet chucks aren't.
Ordered pretty late yesterday. Next Day DPD but it actually arrived today!
16.2mm slots and a lovely deep thread about 40mm.
Only drawback they were out of stock of the standard ones. Length a bit more than I would like at 100mm instead of the usual 70mm bit it's a huge machine so shouldn't matter.
Same price as RDG.
Off to make some chips

Isn't that called... a Trav-A-Dial? the Silver Bullet looks contemporary on the Holbrook (and there's a gauge tray with a micrometer if I need to be *accurate*)
