just got myself the middle one cheap 150ltr that should be better
What does the machine run like, is it noisy and could it run a sand blaster?
Vectraross, Whats the sizes of the pulleys on your motor and pump. Unlike others I'm quite fond of the older compressors, those Rand compressors wont have no where near the longevity of the proper old Ingersoll Rand you have there. (Rand have nothing to do with Ingersoll Rand by the way)

i went and picked up the rand nothing to do with ingersoll i know,only to find the motor was loud...i knew straight away it was the shims on the crank anyway i offered him £20 and he took it,motor was new even came with box....stripped motor down oil was black,took head off and gasket was bust inbetween the pistons.so its no good.what i paid for the tank and motor buying a new pump wont be that bad,the ingersoll will be for sale,not sure the sizes im sure i can measure if you like.

what should i use for gasket? ill measure them now. what oil should i put back in it?

anyone know where does cheap ish pumps for 3hp motor?
buy a copper sheet from ebay and use the old gasket to trace onto the copper sheet then use tin snips fine blade saw or a dremmel with a router to cut the new gasket.
my ingersoll rand compressor gave me no end of problems noise and compression wise due to a duff read chamber gasket (made new one up the same way as described)
took me an hour to make a new one out of a £20 copper sheet and it works a treat and wont blow apart like the old fiber one that was in there.
btw to save confusion the motor is the electrical motor that turns the pump. unless the bores are clapped or you can feel excessive play in the piston when its at tdc the noise could well be down to that blown gasket empty receiver tanks are loud and act like a big steel drum until some pressure is in there.

think u got me confused ingersoll is working fine its the rand one single thats gaskets gone not the v twin...but yeah ill do that and give it a whirl. what thickness or dont it matter? cheers
If its just to see if you can get the rand to work get some gasketing material of ebay I would chance the .8 one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Gasket-Pa...er-resistant-5-x-A4-sheet-sizes-/230990757178 or could measure the thickness of the old one and get the closest match. There`s no doubt the copper would be best though.

yes gone for 0.5mm copper.its all stripped and cleaned just need gasket put back together and oil.motor oil will be ok just for now or proper comp oil? would have thought 10w 30 motor oil be ok?

right done the gasket and it wownt build pressure over 50 psi.so ill leave it wait for another pump
