HELP! Stopped Feeding Wire

well it was £66 +vat and postage, think they ripped me off on postage to be honest was about six something.....would fit in a blooming envelope too!! anyhow i hope it works too! only bought the welder for £100! lol.

Well the PCB came before christmas, and..................................it works WOOOHHOOOOOO!! Touch wood its all sorted now! Thanks to all the guys that posted trying to help!! it was much appreciated, but basically was my circuit board knowledge that let me down!

Anyway im off to the garage to do some welding! Thanks again!

no arc OR wire feed could have been relay contact burned out and not switching power to the welding transformer

if it is completly dead and when you trigger it there is no ocv at the torch

then it will more than likely be the transformer or the relay ,if you can hear the relay click when triggered ,then it will be the relay contacts

just in case you wanted a spare pcb for the future

also i repair them for £25 inc carriage

Just fixed my son's Mighty Mig 130 with the help of this thread. Armed with the information here, it didn't take us long to work out that the relay was faulty. The relay cover pulled off easily and we could actually see that the relay wasn't moving far enough to close the contacts - closed them with a screwdriver and it arced straightaway.

Quick trip to Maplins for a £4 relay, soldered in some wires as it was a bit bigger, and away we go again!

Spoke too soon. The motor board transformer has died today; the primary reads open circuit. Anyone know what type of transformer I need to replace it?

The board basically has two circuits on it.
The 220v power relay that is powered by the 24v PCB transformer and switched by the trigger switch.
And the motor drive circuit, that uses the welding output voltage to run the motor.
The relay on the PCB does click when the trigger is pressed ?.

I have the same problem, getting power to wire but not feeding it. I never heard a click from the relay ether what shood i cheak now, Thanks

Wires from the switch in the torch handle need checked.
The transformer on the small welders tend to burn out.
See if you get around 24v ac out of the transformer with it powered up.

Hi, it's an old thread, but seems the place for experts on circuit boards !
Im stuck without a welder almost at the end of a long mot sill repair job.
I thought my Ferm 150 was dead apart from the fan - but I can hear a little click inside a little relay(?) at the top of the circuit board
Worth trying a replacement/ repair?

Not sure what you mean by Ferm 150 but if the relay that 'clicks' looks like it is a fairly heavy relay and has pretty large PCB tracks or connections to it, it's a reasonable bet that the problem is similar to the above posts. Otherwise, it's a fair bet that the PCB has failed in some way. Review the above posts and if none of it works, try contacting Ashley Tinker (above) via PM. He's repairs most of our PCBs and is quick and reasonably priced.

Got it!
Took the lid off the tiny relay - and it wasn't throwing far enough to make contact.
Tweaked the contacts a little to take up the slack - and we're back in business! YAY!
Just need to find a new relay before this one dies completely.

Hello, I am having the same problem as the author of this post but I am confused by some of the terms used to fix the issue. I have check the torch for connection issues and the motor appears to be in working condition. I cannot find a relay in the machine, I am definitely not hearing any click when pressing the trigger. the 4R7 seems to be reading 5ohms. I am not sure how the entire PCB could go bad. Maybe it is the KBP206 component, which I dont know the name of. Could anyone help I'm in the middle of a job.

if by any chance your machine has a constantly live torch there will be no need for a relay

test if there is a dc voltage coming from it where it has the + & - you can also check it has ac going in where it has these signs ~ if it has a dc voltage coming from it, it should be ok

They seem to tend to have a bad connection on the 4R7 resistor, maybe because of the heat.
The SCR (the component with the metal plate to the upper right of the large resistor) will sometimes fail.
