Building control and planning are not the same.
Building control inspect and sign completion.
Not had any grief with either, BC out beforehand have a fair idea of what and how, get them to send schedule of inspections and work to that.
3rd party BC is a joke they don't inspect anything

Borough council. Same Borough Council as me, not building control. Same shower of ***** who tried to mess with me and my workshop build.
Wickes had a deal on, so I think it was 21 per sheet for the sound thing, and 20 for the fire rated ones

Yes kingspan/ celotex is dear stuff for what it is.
Got the sound board up, and also built a frame inside the shed.
I suddenly got paranoid about the rear wall not being strong enough to hold the roof up, so used a spare 3.6m x 225 + offcut of a 195mm joist attached to the ceiling, and propped up by the studwork. In hindsight, it probably wasn't required, but I also think it's probably significantly stronger now than before. Anyway, it will all be covered up and gives me somewhere convenient to fasten stuff close to the ceiling.
The side walls got a similar frame. There was no joist to screw the top into, so I made those little brackets to hold the wall in a horizontal direction. The idea is to keep these walls as separate as possible from the main structure, but unfortunately I don't have the head height to make it independent in the roof, hence why it's tight up against it. The top of the frame is screwed into the little noggins that go between the joists as well.

Fitted OSB inside the frame in strategic / random locations so that things can be fixed to the wall at a later date without having to find a joist etc. This corner is where data + electricity will come in (conduit at the floor level), and decided to make it all OSBd for ease of attachment of the required bits and bobs.
Fitted some more vapour control.
The front section is also starting to get some love. Currently in the process of building the front inside wall, but ran out of studwork timber, but wickes have kindly delivered some again.
Sound-proof-wise, the door leaks quite a bit, as do the windows, but the rest of the structure is surprisingly good for a hobbyist. For example, I cannot tell when it's raining outside from the roof or back/side walls, only from the front.
I have also decided on a layout for the sections. The compressor/3d-printer room will be at the very back corner, where the power comes in. The size of this will be 1.8m x 1.1m, and any spare plasterboard I have left over will be used to build layers up on the walls here.
In front of the compressor room will be the office. Size for this is 1.8m wide and 3.0m deep. The 1.8m is quite narrow, but it brings the internal wall into line with the door frame, and one of the pillars that is helping with holding the roof up in the middle.
The workshop section ends up as 3.0m wide and 4.2m deep. Not massive, but still a useful space.
In other news, I've had an electrician around to discuss, and I'm currently awaiting a quote. No doubt it will be thousands
I'll post a question in brew room soon to get some idea of what might be reasonable for the amount of work I need.. May have to postpone electrics whilst I let the savings replenish a bit..

don't know how i missed this originally, but it's about 50cm narrowing down to about 40 at the end. I think the wide-angle lens lies a bit
I had a day off work, so finally got to stick up the corner beads and spread some plaster on
Never done this before, so taped everything up..
Cut a bunch of holes etc, and prepared the rest of the fibreglass mesh.
I used ewipro basecoat, in two thin coats (fibreglass mesh in the first coat). Used exactly one bag of the basecoat.
After the first coat it looked like it was all going south, but think I managed to save it with the second coat.
Used a polyurethane float (cheapo for 5 pounds from toolstation) for the actual floating.
Hard to know when to start floating, as it grabs like mad if it’s too wet. In the end we had to wait until it was almost dry, but then it floated up pretty nicely.

Next step is to trowel on some white silicone topcoat

Looking very nice.
Added some of the trowel on top coat - it’s frankly amazing stuff to work with! Literally all we did was slap the thing on (ready mixed in a bucket), scrape it back with the trowel, and then floated it up with a plastic float (did about 1sqm at a time).
Finish looks like this, and is really uniform (at least to my untrained eye).

More studs.. this frames the office section in. This wall will hold all the electrics for the office, because it’s possible to cut into the plasterboard without messing up the sound board.
And plasterboard done on the inside of the office:
Still needs plastering etc, but it’s starting to feel like it’s all coming together nicely.
This room will be the first room to get done, as I want to be able to work in it.
Electrician is booked in for early June, and after that there’s only plastering and flooring, really (at least for the office).

Well, about time I updated this again
The electrician came and went, and did an excellent job. Far better than I would/could have done myself, so well worth the money.
Armored cable - 16mm2 and a run of about 50m in the end, terminated into a fusebox, and all the cables along the external walls inside trunking to:
- keep sound transmission to a minimum
- not have to break any vapour barriers.
For the two internal stud walls, the cables were run inside the walls, for neatness.
Lights are fitted with quick-disconnects, so that they can be easily replaced when they inevitably fail (They're LAP, so not totally shonky, but even so I'm sure they'll start failing at some point in the future).
I absolutely adore the office-style trunking along one wall
There are sockets exactly where I need them, and a large number of them too - super, super pleased with this.
One thing I wish I could change is that I should have plastered/painted the ceiling first, but I ran out of time.
Office side below. I specced a bunch of USB/double socket faceplates, both with USB-C and old skool USB-A - amazing to just be able to plug the phone into the wall, especially with a 30W fast charger.
I somehow managed to balls up the vertical post to the left so it's wonky - it's not structural anyway, but looks annoying that it's not straight. Hopefully in time, I will learn to accept the angle.
The "media" wall. Power socket and ethernet hidden behind the TV. Might still change the lights for something else, but I panicked and bought any old light off ebay to have something to fit/hook up.
The carpet is used, "sissal" from my daughters bedroom... Not particularly amazing, but will do for now, and saved a trip to the tip.
Outside, there's a couple of PIR activated lights, and a double outdoor socket:

The office door is using the old floorboards from the kids room. Extremely rustic and utilitarian, and about 4 inches thick
Then, the focus turned to internet connectivity.
I ran an outdoor rated cat6 cable from the house.
This is the Internet, Jen.
The white box on the shelf is an Amplifi wifi router/mesh point. I have the same ones in the house, and this one hauls internet back to the main meshpoint over the cat6 cable.
There's two cables to wall boxes in the office - one for the TV, and one for where the desk is going. Tbh not sure if I will be using the desk connector, but thought it's better to have and not use, than need and not have.
Speed seems reasonable:
