companys have been trying to extend it to home reference via the covid situation and also extending it to the users own private computer however thats not allowed

Too true. From an individual standpoint I would imagine there is probably little to fear - although they could AI mass data for certain trends and cr*p.

Would I want the chinese access to my comings and goings - couldn't care less.

Bit of a thread drift (like that’s never happened on here before), but faceache scares me sometimes - I rarely go on there, or post anything, but twice it has recommended ‘friends’ that in one case pre-date the internet and who I’ve had no contact with in any electronic form, and one other more recently but again no contact of any sort that I can think of

If someone adds a contact on their phone as Mick Annick with your Phone number and you’re on Facebook it can suggest them to you as someone you know.

And that is just the tipppy tip tip of the iceberg of the connections it makes. 2 people log in from the same wifi hotspot frequently and one works for Dev’s Engineering Inc? The other person probably works there too, record that and suggest the other hotspot user as someone they know…

mine wont as i had installed the cctv and caught more than they thought he was the one that robbed the old lady in the area

The last few years we have mainly installed Dahua after 2 attacks on hikvision dvr units, quite a few people i know do npt connect their CCTV to the internet now to avoid hacking

I'm happy for the Chinese/US Governments to help me identify which of the neighbour's cats cr@ps in my garden so it can be correctly identified and launched back at high speed into the appropriate garden off the end of a shovel.
