Maybe, first thought was rabbit, badger or fox! By now the stuff I bunged in the trench last year must have rotted and be at a nice warm temperature.

My runners are already in the ground, fleeced up at night in case theres a frost. They were planted in bog roll centres filled with compost. I would have left them in the cold frame for a couple of weeks, but the roots are already an inch out of the bottom, so in they go.
The perennial slug problem has started too. Bar stewards have had two plants already, but a liberal sprinkling of pellets should see them off!

Soak your runner bean seeds in clean water change it every 18 hrs for three days they will be ready to break the casings .
Soak the beet root seeds 12 hrs and sow singly . I use simple 14 x 14 sheets of plastic as masks with pre made holes to give the correct spacings for a very quick and accurate sowing regime .
Lettuce sprinkle the seeds on top of a fluffy compost leaving ht etop of the compost half an ince below the tub rim cover it with cling film and in three to five days they should be chitting , remove film spray wiothj water and grow onm into plants. when 40 mm high transplant and puddle water them in .
Lettuce , don't leave them on a window cill in the afternoon sun you. ll kill them .

Just signed up for this allotment.
It's *huge* - easily twice the size of my last one.(50ft square, at least)
It's got half a dozen established fruit trees - plum, pear, and apple - a large herb plot, and a couple of dozen horseradish plants. That's practically everything I want to grow already in place.
Trouble is, it's been the dumping ground for the neighbouring allotments for a couple of years, so there's a *lot* to clear.
It's *huge* - easily twice the size of my last one.(50ft square, at least)

Spreads like wildfire. Easy to grow. I got one plant a few years ago and now its everywhere. Never tried making horseradish sauce with it, but I believe its not a pleasant task.
It's not a pleasant taste either..lol

I always think it's such a shame when I see an overgrown plot. Especially knowing that at some point in the past it would have been someone's pride and joy.
You've got a big job in front of you sorting that out. But as my Mum used to say "Your not going to eat all the veg in one go, so you don't need to dig the whole plot in one go". Little and often and take the time to stand back and admire what your achieving as you go.

Ain't nothing growing here yet, we even got a little snow last night. I am planning to grow potatoes this year however. I bought a bunch and have them sitting now to "activate" them for planting. It's a heritage cultivar called an "almond potato":

I have read where grinding it is much worse than cutting onions.
I like the taste of Horseradish, bout the only "spicy" thing I like.
Don't like hot food at all, tastes like bleach to me.

Horse radish, chili peppers, and English mustard.
You probably won't like it.
Wierdly, I *love* the smell of bleach: reminds me of many happy childhood hours in the local swimming pool.

Now I don't do any of this, but I do like horseradish.
They put a small drop on a cracker for me to try.
First thing I noticed, is take a deep breath whilst away from it, and hold it, while you eat it.
Don't inhale when near it.
It wasn't bad at all. Kind of tasty.
But sadly, anything else "Hot" just wipes out my tastebuds, and all I taste is bitter.

nov 5th area and also the start of the season
my main gripe is why couldnt they have given me the alotment earlier in march instead of april like they have with you i think its stupid giving you it in april as you should have been already trimmed it down, burnt it and getting ready with your seeds in the shed
first things first build a small brick rocket stove down there that means you can have hot drinks i used to take a gas bottle hob and have a small kettle easy filled the water from the tap
if your burning now becareful of the smoke if your near any houses

just burn all your crap at night when its dark and there is no wind
chuck waste engine oil on it to get it going quick and the black smoke goes straight up

"Small Fires after 6pm" here.
I have a gilly kettle for brews (basically a stainless rocket stove instead a kettle).
I'm planning on getting a poly tunnel set up next week, and get some tomatoes in.
My "drain pipe aquaponics" system is being hung for lettuce, and strawberries.
Then a couple of 6x20ft ish patches for carrots, potatoes, celery, fennel, and Pak choi.
For this year, I'm going to get seedlings since I'm a bit late to it.
The patches are just about clear - I just had to pull up the old carpet/damp proofing pvc that was covering them.
