I'd be cautious of composting the drowned slugs just incase there are zillions of survivable slug eggs , can anyone shed light on this ?

Put a slug passable but hedge hog blocking barrier such as mesh or slats across the front of the tunnel cover if you use On /Off's idea. Dead slugs do not climb out of the beer and are not likley to survive supping from the trap to attempt it. s.

Sounds like a job for 3D printed ends for these half round tubes!

The cover wasn't even moved so something (things) small. We get stoats too.

Noted late last night that with the McEwan's gone the slugs are starting on the toffee apple cider which they didn't touch the first night. Guessing the McEwan's smells stronger, more "yeasty"? The cider tbh smells very chemically. Maybe it needs a day for that to dissipate? Either way it proves slugs aren't that fussy!

Lidl tonight for their cheapest 5% lager in the small bottles.

I might have to rig the cheapo wildlife camera up.

My wife mixes a teaspoon of flour, a teaspoon of sugar and half a teaspoon of dried yeast into a mug of water and mixes it well. She pours that into lidded yoghurt pots or similar with cuts outs to let the party guests in. She says it works just as well as beer at a fraction of the cost.

Been bad this year fir slugs...they love butternut squash it seems. Had to put cloches out to slow them down and give me plants a fighting chance!
