put the sizes on top so the spanners don't cover the numbersHi,
I like hanging my spanners on the wall so I can easily see if one is missing, and they’re easy to grab, too.
I’m collecting Britool double ended whitworth ring spanners and they don’t like to hang off a single point as easily as the ring open end type.
Does anyone have a solution?

Cant see anyone wanting to nick Whitworth/BA spanners.I under stand the delight you may have with nice shiny things, it's almost an obsession with many folk , there is perhaps a consideration needing to be look into these days .
Store them in big drawers 3 inches deep , with three divisions back to front , laying flat , always put them back with the larger sizes at the rear ..then after few uses you'll know exactly what the sizes are and if any are missing .
Thus saving you loads of space and not showing " visitors" or online viewers that you have a full set worth nicking .
I gained this knowledge on studying industrial security at NEBSS level and having to work with sentence served so called ex criminals ( an education in itself ) .

That’s cool. The hook is useful.
Thank you for opening up to the groupWell all my spanners are randomly and chaotically lobbed in a number of big toolboxes, apart from the Whitworth sizes that are similarly lobbed in their own tin box. I have no system or scheme and regularly swear and rant like a b'stard when trying to find the one I want I'm far too old to change now

Are you missing any? I might have a few you can have in the depths of neverenter. Possibly britool. I'll have a look. They're the type of thing I'll grind up to make "special tools"
Sockets sometimes come handy for me to bang onto nackered headed bolts.
Other than that. Never use whit.
Send them to me then. I too got rid of my Whitworth/BSF spanners years ago - then bought an Alvis. Now I scour the Sunday markets for them.
I'll have a look see what's there. There's some foot and half long ones. My great uncle Harry used to be a bus mechanic (I've just had to read up on an alvis as I had no idea what one of those were but see they're tied to leyland) look like nice cars..Send them to me then. There's some sloggers kicking around also. (I use those as mini anvils from time to time, or some kind of pressing aid)
